Costume Fail

So, LoBII is here- leaving in about an hour.

Unlike many games, I didn't figure out my costuming very well. In fact, two days ago I tossed anything that could work on the bed and yesterday I tossed it in the bag. It wasn't that much.

I am playing Hope Cladwell- archetype ingenue (for reals- Urinetown is a show based on taking archetypes and making them bigger). She is the "Girl in the Yellow Dress", the "Girl Next Door", the "Sweet Young Thing".

Guess what I don't dress as?

I have the tight tight shirts, I have the paint me on purple plastic pants. I have short skirts and corsets and all manner of crazy thing. I even have a few dresses, but they don't make sweet young things in my current size- I have boobs. Boobs and ingenues DON'T MIX! Any dress I found that was possible was either too tight in the chest or too loose in the middle. I have some that I am going to use (with an off-white button up sweater to help- sadly it doesn't button up enough but it will cover my shoulders) but I couldn't find my undershorts and am feeling very not up to being what should be a petite, not as endowed, soprano. Plus no one knows my songs so I'm not even sure that I'll get to sing much ::sad::.

Add to that that I forgot to pack any clothes for helping with "All That Jazz"- if I can find boyshorts or hot pants or a black slip or the like I will wear that and my bra, maybe a hat, and call it a day. Otherwise, damn it.

Jason worked out better (Jason's costumes ALWAYS work out better- grrr). He is in duck boots, brown pants with braces, a short-sleeved button down shirt, and a tool belt with a plunger in it. tada! respectability and janitor, all in one!

All that said, I'm looking forward to game. I understand that J adn I are the only ones who really KNOW Urinetown and that others know the more popular shows so it makes sense. I can't wait to sing with Jason and he is perfect to play Bobby Strong (only reason that he didn't when we did the show is that they needed him for harmonies and to be a lot of different things). We will have fun.

But I wish I had had a chance to shop.
