my baby nook turned 3 years old in march. i found out this month that he has a mass in his abdomen. he had been lethargic and not his usual self. took him to see the vet and he said he'd need to have surgery. he went in for surgery but the mass is wrapped around his pancreas. no way to remove it without it affecting the blood circulating to ( Read more... )

Oh, this is so sad.... Poor Nook....
Did the vet say what might have caused the mass/ tumour in Nook's tummy?

And good luck for Zephyr's surgery!

No. He was surprised that it had grown to that size in the short amount of time that it did. We took Nook in on February to have his teeth cleaned and took him in last month to have him looked at.

Oh, I guess it just happened. Sometimes these things cannot be explained...
I hope Nook is not in pain and will be comfortable until the end....
Breaks my heart to think about poor little thing suffering...

He's been a bit more energetic and acting like himself lately... stealing my tennis shoes and hiding them in the room. LOL We'll be prepared to help him to the bridge to avoid him suffering in pain. *sniffles*

We got a melatonin implant in Zephyr today and will schedule the surgery soon. Just haven't had good luck with surgeries with our previous furbutts.

I understand - we took one of our ferts up last summer to Cornell Animal Hospital (and they tend to be good) for adrenal gland surgery, and yeah. Its scary.
