Update your virus checker. There is a worm out that has been literally shutting down systems. It's hit ABC News, CNN, one of the NYC newspapers, and tons of other places.
I was suffering this damn thing until recently. Took me a long time to figure out what it was and how to get rid of it. Trend micro and spybot found it first, F-Norton! It didn't see it.
