Your argument about the idea of faith and trust on the show is spot on and so interesting :) I never considered some of that stuff, so thank you so much for pointing it out!

Also, I think the next prophet will be a child. Don't know why, I just do. ::shrugs::

I think the prophet as a child would be really interesting. Dean is so amazing with children that I could just see ovaries melting all over the place with the potential schmoop :)

Idk, it just kind of struck me while I was watching that they kind of kept repeating that they 'did what they had to do', even if it was against their better judgement. The old saying is that the 'road to hell is paved with good intentions', so I'm really wondering where the writers are going with this... if it was intentional, because yah never know, they've never really done subtle ;p

I wish I could avoid all the spoilers before I get to watch episodes almost a week later. I didn't really like the episode, to be honest, but I wonder if my experience would have been different if I hadn't known up front everything significant that was going to happen in it. Guess I'll never know. Funny, I was never that invested in the character of Kevin, though I think he's really come on this season, but I've grown really fond of Osric Chau and all his antics, so I was really sad for his sake.

Oh, the peril of the spoiler! Chances are, if I'd known what was going to happen, I probably would have disliked the episode too - Dean was left behind - again - and in an incredible amount of pain. It hurt to even watch it... yes, I am that much of a sap ;p
Kevin... first I liked him as the innocent student, then he annoyed me when he was all obstructive and in denial - though Mrs. Tran was great -, then he really grew on me this season so I was sad to see him go. I'm just kinda worried that the next prophet, if there is one, is going to be some cute little thing and a potential love interest, which, no, just no. The writers are constantly pulling the brothers apart, and I don't want something/someone else coming between them.

I don't think they'll go there again cos they know the fans won't tolerate it. I think that's why they made Charlie gay, and they've had Jodie acknowledge Sam and Dean's relationship as "special". They want us to know that these women _aren't_ potential love interests, cos if they were they'd have to die (sighs). I think a child is a real possibility. Though I'm not sure how useful the trope of a prophet really is any more. In the last couple of seasons Kevin didn't seem to be using any actual prophet powers like he did in S7 when he just looked at the tablet and the translation came to him as a vision. Since then he just seems to me to be using his advanced placement language skills to translate the tablet - and what do they need another academic genius for? Wasn't Sam always supposed to be that? It always mystifies me why they keep bringing in new genius characters when Sam and Dean already had that covered from the get go with their two opposed but complementary kinds of smarts. Every time they bring in a new nerd or geek they just ( ... )

Good point about Charlie and Jody, and 'They want us to know that these women _aren't_ potential love interests, cos if they were they'd have to die' *chuckles* so true!

I was starting to think that poor Kevin needed glasses as everything he was trying to read was so fuzzy ;p

They do seem to be downplaying the boys abilities as Dean seems to be getting beaten up at the drop of a hat (actually has been since season 3-ish) and couldn't figure out that the angel was playing him, and Sam couldn't seem to figure out that something was going on what with the time lapses and all. Very disappointing. Maybe they'll feel, and do better after the break ;)
