This is a really cool meme that I shamelessly stole from tari_roo. So, without further ado:

List 10 books that have stayed with you. Don't take but a few minutes, and don't think too hard - they don't have to be the 'right' or 'great' works, just ones which have touched you.

In no particular order:
  1. Siddhartha - Hermann Hesse
  2. Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. ( Read more... )

thinky thoughts, fun, meme

I'd have liked to include Hamlet in mine, but then I'd have had to add Antony and Cleopatra and Henry IV Part 1 as well. Then Yeats and Eliot have had a huge influence, too, and the Tao of Physics . . . I really need two lists, one for stuff I read at school and college that stuck with me, and another for all that subversive sci-fi/fantasy stuff :P

And then another for weirdass esoteric text books . . .

It's tough to choose isn't it! Didn't want to go tooo far back (I loved Dr. Seuss and The Cat in the Hat ;) ), and I totally agree with needing multiple lists, but that's too much work for a Monday night ;)

I somehow missed out on a lot of the usual kiddie books (including The Hobbit! But I read it when I was older). I will confess to a misspent youth reading Blyton's Famous Five and Malory Towers books, though :S

Btw, how did you copy in Tari_roo's link? When I tried it with yours it didn't work properly.

Hmmm... it's easier to get the name to link when you're posting an entry rather then in the comments. In the comments you have to use html code, and this link http://www.livejournal.com/support/faq/67.html should help with how to do that. (I go to lj help a lot)

Hope this helps, kinda, sorta, maybe... :)
