Why isn't it more all over the media?

Hmmm, should we stop using PC's at work?

I'd hope whomever does your IT both keeps them updated and also runs virus software, firewalls, and the like, ne?

And it looks like it's all over the tech media, in addition to being in the NYT a few days back. Just not on most of the mainstream outlets, who don't usually track these things anyway, as far as i can tell. No one knows if it's a scare tactic/April Fool's joke or something deadly serious. Better safe than sorry though.

Depending on where you work and how you work, you might consider whether Linux would be a more effective platform.

Not at all. And databeast actively wanted people to repost it. "The More You Know," and all that.

You know, if these genius hackers really need my 50 kbps of dialup to power their "fearsome" botnet, then I must be driving them nuts given how frequently I pick up & drop the connection.

Anyway, a mainstream media article, dated today ...

Annoyingly, it took forever to find out what OS's are affected ...

Dangit, usually the hackers go gunning for XP & Vista now, you'd think I'd be off the hook with Win2000. But at least it's still faster & has nine less years of Microsoft bloatware.

The thing's already running rampant enough, and very hard to clear, evidently.

It's also sort of a virus tradition for nasties to go off April 1. The joke, of course, being "haha, we infected your ass."
