The time has come for me to join the twenty-first century. So that I can join the twentieth.

By which I mean: does anyone know how to stream TV episodes for free online? What are good sites? Which sites may contain viruses that may cause my computer to crash? I have never had need of illegal online downloading before, because I believed in paying ( Read more... )

Not reading the majority of this post because I literally just ordered the first season of Mad Men on Netflix and plan to watch the first few episodes tonight!! So eeeek, spoilers.

But I do a lot of TV downloading (seriously TONS) and tvshare's generally a pretty good LJ community for downloading stuff. Files hosted on Mediafire and Megaupload (and Rapidshare, but that site kind of annoys me the way it's set up) are the most trustworthy and reliable for me. You have to join the comm, but look! They have all 3 complete seasons!

OMG PLEASE WATCH THIS. I WANT SOMEONE TO DISCUSS IT WITH ME SO SO BADLY.

Capslock, whew. Sorry. Forgive my excitement, since you really know TV, and you would make the best discussion partner EVER. Especially for this show. This show could even contribute to your thesis, there is so much text and subtext on women and power differentials and the role of sex versus intelligence and status in female power. It's awesome. The female characters kick ass, like I said under the cut. Though you may not have read that, since it's spoiler city.

But I didn't want to spoil anyone. Oops. Maybe I should put a spoiler warning.

And thank you for the tip! I'll let you know how downloading goes. Me + technology tends to = Bad.

Haha, completely understandable! And yes, Mad Men has been on my list of shows to watch literally forever (or at least since I first got Netflix), and now that my family's out of town I was like, I should move Mad Men to the top of my queue so I have something to watch! So the first disc will HOPEFULLY be in my mail when I get home from work today.

And no worries about the spoiler warning! I assumed that there was squee under the cut, so I just skimmed over it all. But I've heard some really great things about the females in Mad Men (both characters and actresses) so I'm looking forward to seeing them, for sure. And then we'll have another show to squee over together! Yay!!

She's FINALLY learning to stream, eh? About time.

I suggest site that sister above pointed out. And I will pass on watching this show, so don't look here for anything.

The show is too complex for you anyway. And you might not like how the female characters are multi-layered and flawed.

More like I've got too many other distractions and shows that are more engaging and funny. That feature space beetles and magical, deaf wolves and Canadians. Yeah, does the show have a ghost of the father who lives in the closet?

Yeah, thought so.
