trivalent, as always. Interesting thing to note is that if you want me to write Cyg/Dru fluff, the word Rashnu must never be mentioned or my brain just stalls and the fluff refuses to be written.
The Quidditch Pitch was full of students screaming loudly. Ravenclaw and Slytherin were both favorites to win the Quidditch Cup this year. Albus Potter blocked an attempt by Lucius Malfoy by the tips of his fingers. A well-aimed Bludger from Bellatrix Black made Atia Harris drop the Quaffle. An effort by Rabastan Lestrange managed to slide past Albus while later, Scoprius Malfoy managed to sneak a goal past Amycus Carrow.
By contrast, the castle was quiet. Not a soul stirred with the castle, save for two figures in the Slytherin dormitories. Druella Rosier drew lazy patterns on Cygnus Black's chest, smiling momentarily as his dragon passed under her fingers before returning to its position on his back. She was content for now, to lie there in his arms. He always managed to draw out this sweet side of her. They were quiet until he sat up and threw his legs over the side of the bed. She looked at his back, amused at the phoenix preening at her. The dragon managed to curl itself around his waist, so that she only saw its body and had to use her imagination as to where its head lay.
"Do you mind?" Cygnus asked, pulling out a smoke.
"Not the smoking," she answered. He always asked her if he could, even when he already knew her answer. "I do mind you getting up," she pouted.
He paused on his way to the window and returned to the bed to place a kiss upon her lips. She grabbed his shoulders and tried to pull him back in with her. He chuckled against her lips and let her take him down. He dropped his cigarettes on the floor and slid back under the covers with her. Druella had a natural ability to get whatever she wanted.
Druella stretched sleepily and laughed as Cygnus pressed his fingers against his eyes, trying to stop himself from smiling. She rolled over onto her belly and crawled on top of him. She licked her lips. "Don't be shy, Cygnus. You liked it. I can tell."
"Mmm," was his reply. Whether this was assent or dissent, Druella didn't really care. She knew the answer.
"Where are you going after Hogwarts?" she asked. They were in their final year, she supposed he should have started thinking about these things.
"Home."
"Well, I know you're going home," Druella said impatiently. "But what are you going to do?"
"You misunderstand. I mean I'm going home to China."
"Oh," Druella looked at him as he opened his eyes. She looked straight into his dark eyes and knew he wasn't lying. He was going to leave. She couldn't properly explain how she was feeling, but she knew she wanted to hit him. Preferably with a curse.
"I knew I was going to go back the moment they made me come here," he told her. She didn't speak but continued to stare at him. "I don't belong here. The situation is unusual and you know very well of the rumors that have been floating around about a Purification Movement. I don't want a hand in it. I value blood and family, but not at the cost of my own."
She didn't know what to say to that so she continued to stay silent, feeling his chest rise and fall beneath her.
"There is just no reason to stay," he whispered. "Is there?"
Druella shook her head and leaned down to kiss him.
Druella was curled up in her chair, reading a bland letter from her brother. It contained the usual tidings that he was well &c. She read it because he was her brother and he wrote it because she was his sister. They pretended to like each other, though they both knew neither really cared much for the other. She had just reached the part where he briefly described ballroom dancing when Olya came in. Druella looked up.
"Mistress, a gentleman is here to see you."
Druella folded Nikolai's letter. "Let him in," she said as she arranged her curls and tried to look pleasant. She realized Olya hadn't even mentioned who the gentleman was. Druella's hand immediately went to her wand as the door opened.
She was the first to speak. "I thought you were leaving."
Cygnus smiled and stepped forward. His dragon peeked at her from its position on his neck. He took her in his arms and kissed her gently. "I found a reason to stay."
