Magenta woke up to the sound of loud squeals from the bed beside her. She opened one eye lazily and recognized Helena's laugh. There was a shushing sound from a voice she also recognized before Helena fell silent. The bed to her right also came alive as she saw Louis carrying a bouquet of flowers and leap into Atia's bed before the sound of the hangings drawing close made Magenta roll her eyes.
She had thought Helena was a proper lady, but she was still quite susceptible to the temptations of the modern age. Magenta decided that since she was already awake, she might as well get up and do something more productive that listening to the murmurs of her roommates. She untangled some of her curls with her fingers before pulling her hangings open. Her eyes widened.
"Charlie!" she hissed. "This is my bedroom! You can't come into a ladies' bedroom!"
"I didn't come here for you. I'm just here to hold Albus' flowers while he charms Helena into accepting them," he replied, nodding in the direction of Helena's bed.
Magenta colored. "Re-really?"
"No, of course not, silly," Charlie grinned and walked over to her bedside. He didn't sit on the edge of her bed like she expected but knelt on the floor and gave her his gifts. "Happy Valentine's Day."
Magenta couldn't help but smile. She took the flowers and chocolates graciously. She noted that it did feel nice to receive presents on this holiday that the future generations made such a big deal about. "Thank you," she said.
"Do I--get something in return?" he grinned.
She looked at him curiously. He tilted his head and pointed as his cheek. Magenta let out a small laugh and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Get dressed and we'll go down to breakfast together," he whispered. "I'll wait in the Common Room like a good little suitor," he nodded as he stood up.
"Suitor?" Magenta repeated as he walked towards the door.
Charlie grinned and nodded. "Of course. That's what you call someone that's wooing you, right?"
"You're wooing me?"
Charlie nodded again before reminding her to hurry as he left her bedroom. Magenta let out a slow breath before getting out of bed.
"You look lovely," Charlie was sitting on a couch near the stairs when Magenta came down. She had placed some of his roses in her hair. The rest she would paint and then press. Charlie offered his arm, which she took and they walked towards the Great Hall slowly.
"Charlie," she began.
"Yes?"
"You're not allowed in my bedroom, okay?" she whispered.
Charlie nodded. "Yes. I promise it was just this once, but I'll wait downstairs next time."
"Next time?"
Charlie looked at her. "Isn't that how wooing goes? I pay you visits? Do some menial work? Feed the horses?"
Magenta stifled a laugh. "You're teasing me."
"Of course, I am," Charlie stopped and turned her to face him. "Magenta, I love you. I am very serious about my intentions and I would like to be with you for as long as we can make it last here."
Magenta pursed her lips as Charlie reminded her that their time together was limited. She was surprised as she felt something hot and wet slide down her cheeks. Charlie's hand was wiping away the tear. "Don't cry."
"Charlie--" her sentence was cut short by a chaste kiss. She responded gently.
"Does this mean yes?" Charlie asked softly, his hand against her cheek.
"What do you mean? You haven't fed any horses yet."
