Astoria crushed the letter in her hands and stormed out of the library. Daphne watched her sister, her arms crossed.
Fred counted the change in his hands before placing it in his pockets. He glanced at the clock on the wall briefly, checking the time. Twenty minutes to the portkey. He had a little time to change his galleons into denars. Hermione had been very patient in explaining everything to him. He should be able to pass for Muggle in the markets. He walked up to the small booth in the corner of the portkey office and asked if they had denars.
"Sure thing," the old lady behind the counter said, tapping the wall of drawers behind her. The drawers behind to rotate quickly, switching around. Finally, it stopped and the witch inspected the label curiously. "Macedonian denars, here's that."
Fred nodded, counting out the galleons and sickles.
"How much you changing for?"
"Uhm, thirty galleons and fifty sickles," he said, dropping the coins on the table.
"Right," the witch counted out the coins in her hand before giving Fred the proper amount.
"Ta," Fred counted the denars. Easy enough, the numbers were printed on.
"Oh, Merlin!" came a loud screech from the doorway. "Has the portkey for Macedonia left yet?"
"No, Madam. You have a good fifteen minutes before it leaves," the man behind the main counter announced.
"Oops, you gave me an extra fifty," Fred said kindly, returning the excess to the lady.
"Is this where I can get my galleons exchanged?" someone breathed heavily behind him. He moved aside, dropping the denars into a small velvet pouch.
"Yes'm," the lady nodded. "This gentleman's going to Macedonia as well."
"I know," the voice said sourly.
Fred turned to stare at the small, blonde girl counting out galleons furiously.
"Astoria?"
"Really, Fred," she muttered, dropping the galleons on the witch's table. "Two hours is hardly enough time to pack all the things I'd need."
"I didn't think you'd--"
"You didn't think at all," Astoria answered, taking the denars from the counter. "You were selfish and mean and didn't want me to come along!"
"I do want you to come along!" Fred rubbed the back of his neck. "I just didn't know you wanted to..."
"So you sent me a letter two hours before you were going to leave?"
"I--I'm sorry."
"Forgiven," Astoria smiled and squeezed the sides of Fred's face. She gave him a quick kiss. "You're going to have to carry my luggage, though."
