Notes: I'm sort of iffy on some of the first parts of this translation, especially the lines between Mihai and Bishop, so if I ever get a better translation I might update this (AKA Viz's translation, and I think that's in the upcoming volume (3rd). If not, it'll be some time until I fix this).
ANYWAY, the memory is from
Chapter 28: 14 to
20,
Chapter 19: 9 to
12, and
Chapter 29: 15 to
17 HUGE SPOILER WARNING. DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED? IDK, IT'S NOTHING TO OMG ANYMORE? orz
DOGS needs to stop interrupting my dramatic scenes NOW. Also, I used Viz's translation of sensei as Father, since Bishop/Ernest is a priest.
"It's getting more serious." He didn't recognize that voice right away, but he felt like he should.
Soon another voice, Lost's came in. "Hey, you're talking like you know something." Did they know each other? "Explain yourself, did something happen? It would be fine if you asked me about this nasty cut I've got, you know."
The other voice just laughed, but Lost continued to ask questions. "What did the locomotive do?"
"That's great. You above grounders are so reckless." It seemed this other person was going to say whatever he wanted. "This place isn't the Underground. Truthfully this place you're standing in now is dangerous." He paused for a second, another laugh. "You've really piled up a lot of years to come this far without learning that."
"So, do you know something, Father?" It was his own voice, but he was confused by his words. Father? Was that man his dad? "When I realized that I wouldn't be able to find the road to the deep levels, why did you save me?" He sounded serious, and it was weird hearing how much he was talking. "I'm a failed person with a past like yours, You said it when we first met." It was like he was waiting for a response, but he never got one from this "father" person.
"Who are you? What are you trying to make me do, Bishop." So his name was Bishop, then. Maybe he was the man in the Church when he had the memory of Mute.
"Well, maybe I should introduce myself again." Zombie had a bad feeling about this, especially since he wasn't a fan of surprises. "Armored style special, spinal cord modified, Cerberos testing unit number one." He paused before speaking again. "The lost number one."
"Ernest Rammsteiner, that's my name." It took him some time to take in all this information, as one minute he was father, then Bishop, and now Ernest Rammsteiner? "Nice to meet you, brother, or something like that." Brother? They were brothers? He didn't understand the words the man was saying to him in the memory. "Hey, wait a minute. Does it anger you to hear that?" He asked, almost in a curious manner. "Yeah, I guess it would." He muttered.
"No matter what you are, I'm grateful to you, Father." He sounded annoyed, and he could hear the safety on his gun being undone. "But if you have one of those rings around your neck, it's a different story."
There was silence before Zombie broke it again. "Specimen number one, Rammsteiner? Why did you leave before I did. There's someone waiting for me." He snorted. "What were you thinking?"
"You are much more talkative than your usual self." The other man sounded defeated, almost.
"Why aren't you giving me flippant answers like you always do." He wanted an answer from this man, a real one.
There was a lot of banging, clacking of metal objects. He could hear himself snorting and grunting, obviously very upset at this information he had just heart. He could feel the energy between them, the power they shared. He could feel that intense energy inside him growing once again.
"H----, could you at least believe this for me?" He was used to his name being obscured in these memories. "I also want to erase that image from my head, that woman's laughter." When Zombie heard this, he felt a chill go down his spine.
That woman.
