We danced in the bathroom mirror today. Or, rather, he grabbed my arms and made me dance in front of the mirror. Outrageous boy.

Too much of the time, I think, I'm too caught up in the sense that there is a task at hand and that I am to complete it. Today, we crafted calzones and watched them explode in a mess of cheese, tofu, and spinach in the oven. Our habanero-laden pasta sauce is still cooling on the stove. Tempeh is in the fridge, tamed with a marinade of whole-grain mustard and apple juice, among other things.

Fuck metaphysics. I have better things to do with my time.

The fete does not end. Jordan and I rocked the kitchen yesterday with pakoras. Vegetables and antacids never had such a marriage. Then there was facial goop...in my hair. Birthday redux was excellent: Curry Original in dresses and heels, caffeine and cake at Sipps, giggling and mutual exasperation at Caroline's house. I like having real girlfriends in this town. Makeover party on Tuesday. What, are we fourteen?

Tonight, we're re-doing my birthday. It will be a merry and civilised affair among dear friends. There will be no binging, no unwelcome guests, no good will gone awry, no obnoxiousness.

My friends are good people. They split pitchers of cider with me when the boy is trapped in the ER and I still have ten pages of paper to write.

Shit, shit, shit. Meeting with a man that I would just about kill to be tomorrow. Have something like zero words worth keeping for this paper right now. Ten more days of so you think you can be a grad student. Eleven more days of twenty-ness. I need to pull myself together. I need an alchemist.
