With all this knitting talk going about my hands got antsy and I took up knitting my sakura scarf again. (Pattern can be found here http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/PATTsakura.html) The body of the scarf is incredibly easy (as most scarves are I imagine), but the actual ( Read more... )

Knitting socks is so far beyond me. But indeed, Dalai Knitter! Nicely written too.

I think the needles Y gave me might be from her dollar store stash. Jenn has a pair of 10 aluminums, I have 8's in bamboo. The difference between the sizes seems VAST. Although I could check it might have actual measurements.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this double knitting and what I could possibly use it for. Socks are kind of, meh, to me... But shadow knitting intrigues me. I don't know what's wrong with me. I haven't even tried increasing or decreasing... or cables. I'm still thrilling myself with knit and purl!

Enjoy it while it lasts... take it from someone who's knitted 12 inches of yarn and still counting... yada yada yada. I'm dying to switch to stockinette, but don't think it'd look very good. And yet a tiny voice urges me to try just to see if I can get away with a block-type pattern.

*sigh* I should be sleeping instead of looking at Knitty's entire archive!

I, also, will prolly never knit pair of socks. But I thought I'd share just in case any of you were interested. Plus, it's awesome. And you can use the technique for anything that you'd need two identical copies of, like sleeves. I've noticed that my bamboos are slightly smaller than my alums, but the difference isn't huge. So perhaps they are japanese needle in us sizes? Who knows. I would like to get more in larger sizes though. Oi, itachimusume, if I give you the sizes I have, could pick me up whatever I don't have next time you're at the dollar store?

I guess I should post some more of my knittig links, ne?
