I have a very acute sense of smell. I also have very poor eyesight. As a result I tend to rely more heavily on my olfactory sense than most people do ( Read more... )

If somebody else admitted that they were terrified of their deodorant, I'd probably laugh too, so yes.

Oh, my word, I've had a similar experience when I switched my deodorant! Only I wasn't really frightened...I just kept wondering WHAT that smell was!

Maybe you should smoke heavily for a few years to bring your sense of smell down to normal human levels?

Funny story, and it helps prove something that should already be known to most...

I have a strong sense of smell too, but worse than that, I'm also chemically sensitive - 'allergic' to perfumes.

People who wear perfume, or even those who use scented products like lotions and laundry softener, typically become so accustomed to their own scents that they don't notice them anymore - which often leads to reapplication of products.

So scents scare me too... though not for the same reasons.
