LJ was purchased in late November 2007 by a Russian company. This post, for example. Or this one. There were promises that changes wouldn't be made without consulting the LJ users (via an advisory board). To the best of our knowledge, this isn't happening. GLBT groups were most recently censored; a few months back all fanfic/slash groups were taken down because they promoted "incest." (They were later put back up, as were the GLBT groups.) This was one of the typical reactions to the purchase, by a Russian in Canada.

So there was a strike:The one-day content strike is on for this Friday, March 21, from midnight GMT to midnight GMT. Here that translates to Thursday, March 20, 5:00 PM for those in Pacific time ( ... )
