Doll restoration/recreation Soteria project #1

You know how some men take broken down beaten up cars and restore them to their original condition or a new nicers version.  Welp I've decided to take on a restoration project of my own an American Girl doll that has been badly mistreated. The clothes on her are for Kit however I don't believe that she is originally Kit. She is going to be Soteria when she's done. I'm posting photos as before, after and in progress for my benefit.  One before photo I don't have is of her torso, but will have to take one even though I don't think I'll be replacing it. She has an original white muslin body that someone drew an upside down heart on.   (Part of why I think there was abuse and neglect not just a childs bad dog sneaking in and attacking her.)

how she originally came

Damaged hand

Scratched eyes and missing lashes, permanent marker on the eyebrows

Shredded wig

Progress so far: I've removed her head from her body and removed her wig.  Since I refuse to canibalize another doll to give her new eyes (apparently her eye size is unique to AG, whether they are or not I don't know) I've ordered her a new black wig with bangs to give her a little bit of an asian feel (perfect for modeling asian style clothing)

Photos of the eye/face repaint:

I painted the eyes in a golden hazel type of color using Dark Umber, Dark Green, Goldenrod, a basic green, and little touches of metalic gold oh and black of course. Used a clear gloss finish on the eyes to give them some shine.  Her lips are a fleshtone tinted with a rose color, re-whitened the teeth, black blended with dark umber to repaint the eyebrows I still need to install new lashes and once I give the rest of her face a quick clean with acetone then a light blushing.

I used another American Girl doll to cast the first half of a hand/wrist mold.  Once thats baked, I'm planning to cast the top half.  When they are done I'm going to use a blend of Super Sculpty and Sculpty ultra light to recreate her hand then blend acrylic to give her a flawless blend.  Mom suggested giving her fingers an adjustment so she can wear rings and even possibly hold things.  I even considered doing a couple different hands and making them so they are interchangeable.
