CNN is airing a piece right now about alternate lifestyles in silicon valley. They're having quick interviews with people framing their drug use and nonmanogamous relationships like they are stock tips. Honestly my experience is that this is just what the West Coast is like. My social circle is not full of 23-year-old startup millionaires, but it is full of people who casually use various drugs, have polyamorous relationships, and are generally, you know. Nerdy hippies. The ones with tech jobs keep people like me afloat; hell, a furry con is pretty much a massive transfer of money from the folks toiling away in the bowels of the tech companies to artists.

Folks who struck it rich in the startup lottery just have more money to spend on their drugs and art.
