It happened I got an invitation to do ToAU mission 35 to kill that Yagudo. After we failed there people in the party got into an arguement with me about using Barfira to defence for Mijin Gakure.

The damage on mijin Gakure damage is based on the half of your current HP. So no, barfire doesn't help.

The value is based on HP and MND modifly it a bit as Serp said, I still want to confirm it is non-elemental magic type of damage.

People think it's fire because the little icon next to the ability is red (for fire). But it's not fire based, in any of my experiences. I've died to it with Barfire up and survived it with nothing. The only factor I know of is current HP. But if Shell is a factor, that'd be good to know.

Still, I prefer my strategy of "stay the fuck away from the ninjas," haha. x3

If I have - fire resist it doesn't gimp my berserk so can't let the fire icon fool you. I'm pretty sure fire resist doesn't help since it's based on your HP I don't really have any proof or facts, but it's just something I know.

!!! I wasn't aware, I'm one of those whms who thought "Barfira on ninjas or you die"

I do like how you deal with it Sylf. "Stay the [censored] away from the ninja mobs!" I still think I need to get rid of that blue cape I got, thought that was a factor (has a - to fire) but it may be more due to the hp reduction. I've had times where I died, but everyone else didn't. I always blamed the blue cape!

Intensifying Cape is very nice from assault.

That's what I was thinking of replacing it with once I could talk some friends into doing some Assaults or plain make some gil. It's one of the gear tweaks I was thinking about, the others (getting a hedgehog bomb, +1'ing my beak necklace, etc.) are a bit lower priority since I'm getting sort of sick of eating snow, dirt, cement...well, you get the idea.

After I fix the cape my only -hp gear will be my rings. Hopefully they aren't part of the erm "Ninjas like to kill that kitty with Mijin" problem ^^ (I got one electrum and one ether.)
