A thousand nights have come and gone,
But still I dream of only one.
Those nights of cold, no stars, no moon,
When the trees sing a lonely tune.

So many years have passed since then,
When you would sit beside me till ten.
Laughter would ring throughout the night,
As if there would bever again be a lonely sight.

The birds sang with us as we walked together,
The wind blew softly like it will forever.
Holding hands, we then gaze at the cerulean sky,
And wondered about things like how and why.

Now I ask my own questions,
About why you have left and gone.
I always fail to find the answer,
It always makes me shed tears some more.

Tears fall from my eyes as I pray,
For you to be safe on your way.
Though my cries seem to go ignored,
I know that somehow you have heard.

And now after a thousand nights,
I lie alone in my bed tight.
As tears stain these lovely dreams,
Of you and me I always see.

And when a thousand nights will pass once more,
Will I still be waiting for you to come home?
Will I continue to shed these tears out of light,
Or will I dream of you again for another thousand nights?;
