Hyukjae was shaken awake when his phone suddenly rang at pre-dawn. He rubbed his eyes and looked at the display on the clamshell. He couldn't read the caller's name due to sleep clouding his eyes, but he did see what time it was: 3AM. The sound of his ringtone floated across the room and letting it ring for another second would surely wake the others sleeping. He fumbled around with his blankets and answered the call.
Nothing but familiar, loud laughter came through. Right away, Hyukjae knew who the caller was.
"Junsu, what the hell?!"
Junsu continued laughing, although with an attempt to stop and speak properly. After a few moments, he managed to utter a few words.
"Your Manwon Haengbok episode," Junsu said. "I just finished watching it." He stifled a giggle. "Manager-hyung..." he tried to say, but was cut off by more giggles. "He taped it for me so I could watch it."
Hyukjae felt his face redden. "And what about it?"
Junsu started laughing again. Hyukjae felt the urge to fly to Tokyo and give his best friend a punch.
After a few moments, Junsu calmed down again, and began to speak. "You were so pathetic, man!" he exclaimed and started another laughing fit.
"I was not pathetic. And hey, I won!" Hyukjae retorted. He was about to raise his voice but he remembered that Donghae was still fast asleep on the other bed.
"Well, sure you did, but you were literally begging. Where did the little left of your dignity go?" teased Junsu.
"Oh, shut up. Why won't you try it yourself?" Hyukjae almost threw his blanket off in anger.
Junsu laughed again. "Oh, I'll surely look awesome on Manwon Haengbok. And I'm pretty sure I'll beat your sorry ass if I were up against you on it."
"Oh yeah? You haven't even tried it yet!" Hyukjae retorted. "It's not just about the food! You can't even make calls!"
Junsu just laughed while Hyukjae remained quiet. He wondered if Junsu actually understood what was it that Hyukjae found to be the most difficult part about being a Manwon Haengbok challenger.
Suddenly, Junsu stopped laughing. "Yeah, I noticed that you didn't call me for a week," he said with a slight change in the tone of his voice, then started to laugh again.
