Mal's birthday present

Inara has kicked Mal out of the shuttle so she could wrangle his presents out from their hiding place and wrap them. There are several and they aren't the easiest size or shape to wrap, so she was hoping for more time than a trip down to the kitchen would take

That didn't last long, though -- Mal's not someone who people describe as extremely patient.

"Just because you're sleepin' with the captain don't mean I can't come in whenever I please." Muted from behind the shuttle hatch.

Inara picks up the tape dispenser and tosses it at the door. It makes a small thwacking noise.

"But you know you won't, because that means I won't be sleeping with the captain for quite a while."

What? He's waiting.

Inara ties the bow on the last package and picks them up, arranging the three boxes of varying sizes on the coffee table.

"Okay, Mal, you can come in now."
