The streets of Kalm were cool and slightly damp, the paving slabs fresh and clean from recent rain. As Reno walked he mused about this, and the fact that this still struck him as unusual. Growing up in a place like the Midgar slums did things to you. It made you notice when things were clean and didn't smell bad. Not that Reno could smell anything other than his own cigarette smoke, of course.

Blowing said smoke from between his lips, Reno turned a corner, hands stuffed into the pockets of his dark blue pants - he rarely ever wore a different colour, mostly out of habit. Pulling one out, he plucked his cigarette from his mouth and deposited it on the ground, grinding it where it lay with his sole. So much for clean paving slabs. Looking up again, he spotted a familiar spill of black hair.

"Tseng..?" Reno brightened visibly, and made his way over to the other, who seemed to be drifting as aimlessly as he was. "Hey, Tseng, that you?"

Tseng wasn't used to being address by his real name anymore. No one had spoken to him in ages, using it. It had always been "Sir," "Mister", or some other void and polite variant people said because to them he was just another number. It took him a while to notice that someone had said his name, and within a few moments his head had risen from the street and he had stopped in place on the sidewalk, dark eyes gracing over the familiar disheveled form of Reno. Suddenly he realized he also knew the voice well.

"Yes."

The calmness of his own voice surprised himself. Staring blankly a moment, he wasn't sure what to say beyond that. He opted, within seconds, to simply state the name of the other, as a sort of observation. "Reno."

He looked tired. Usually, black hair was smoothed back neatly, nothing out of place. Now it was a bit shorter, a tad more unkempt. A few bangs strayed in front of his features and suddenly he was quite aware of his state. Then he remembered this was Reno, and stopped caring again.

Nodding, Reno grinned. Compared to him, even in his slightly disheveled state, Tseng still looked like a prince - with one hand still stuffed in his pocket, his hair a ruffled mess, and his shirt barely buttoned, Reno was not the neatest of men. He cocked his head to one side, tugging another cigarette from his front chest pocket and putting it to his lips, offering a second to the man before him. "Hey man, I finally found you huh? I was gonna ask you out for drinks, but you weren't online."

"Oh," he replied.

What else was he supposed to say? Tseng could elaborate on his personal reasons as to why he wasn't, but such a simple display of emotions like that was still alien to him. He opted to let silence hang a bit before he cleared his throat, and said something else.

"Mm. So, I suppose that means you want to now?"
