Who would ride a horse? Dangerous, brutal animals that kick and have sour atttiudes. And they smell. And those horns.

I actually have a concept of a mad barbarian who rides a MadPony. It would be glorious because everyone would think he was crazy riding one of those temperamental beasts when there are perfectly tame Chocobos EVERYWHERE.

Colored chocobos (ones that are not Yellow) are very rare in the wild. Some have made immense amounts of Gil from breeding these rare and prized lines, but those that are for sale generally do not possess the magical traits. Regardless, heads of state and mighty generals are rarely seen without one of these distinctive breeds.

Look at it sort of like having a custom limousine.

Yeah, I didn't want wacky powers. I wanted a mean looking red bird that was dumb enough to be brave and comically friendly.

Plus the red ones go faster.
