Yeah, this tutorial was really vague about the bird layer. No matter what I did I couldn't get it to look like yours. All I can see is just darkness and the only way I can get it to look like yours is if I set the layer to Normal and erase my stocks. :\
I didn't think I was being vague... but I am pretty bad at explaining things. Basically I was just explaining that I based the entire icon with that texture in mind so I added it first but changed its colour later. So, you could just add the texture to multiply after the 6th step and continue on with the rest. It should work then I think?
