Hope everyone's Thanksgiving was a happy one, with no burnt turkeys/tofurkeys/turduckens/ham (or it burned magnificently, if that is how you roll). And that Black Friday didn't spiral into madness and tears for anybody. My Thanksgiving went fine, though for some unholy reason my mother decided to prep the turkey at 4 in the morning, complete with clattering to wake me up and prevent me from going back to sleep. So, yes, I started off Thanksgiving Day bright and early, in spite of the fact that I had only fallen asleep at about ~2 AM.

The one good thing about living in the city? Probably fewer car accidents involving deer. My sister hit a deer the night before Thanksgiving, and I think the deer won. There was white fur attached to bits of the torn-off pieces of car, at any rate. So, while my sister's car is in the shop, I've had to drive her to work in the mornings and also picked her up once. She and my mother are in the midst of deciding whether they need to rent a car or not (answer: yes, they do, but neither wants to go out and get one).

My mother decided she wanted to send cookies to my aunt in California. So, my sister and I spent Sunday baking cookies (well, mostly her; I was designated the Ingredient Buyer). We now have [Rainbow] Butter Cookies, Gingerbread Cookies, Island Cookies, and I am now (as of Tuesday night) in the process of baking Peanut Butter Cookies to send to California. The thing which makes me most sad about this is that I only get a few cookies out of the deal; my sister pretty much ate all the butter and gingerbread cookies, though since she doesn't like my island cookies, I guess it balances out.

I'm also guessing my mom wants to send some homemade beef jerky, but the meat-slicer at our grocery has some inconvenient hours, so she hasn't the correctly-sliced meat yet. We do have another full bag from a previous batch, so I guess it couldn't hurt to send that.

Speaking of...*goes to get a piece to nibble on*

Steven Hiller: You know, this was supposed to be my weekend off. But noooo. You got me out here dragging your heavy ass through the burning desert, with your dreadlocks sticking out the back of my parachute. You gotta come down here with an attitude, acting all big and bad. AND WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SMELL?!
[Turns and kicks the alien repeatedly.]
Hiller: I COULD'VE BEEN AT A BARBEQUE!
[Returns to dragging.]
Hiller: But I'm not mad. It's all right. --Independence Day (Hiller is played by Will Smith)
