Nightglow's breath caught in her throat as Snapper's sudden lurch into running nearly made her fall off the grey wolf's back. The curl-twining hand quickly dropped to tangle in his fur. She laid flat against his back, burying her face in his fur to try to keep the dust out of her lungs.

"I'll be coughing up dirt for days," a strangely calm part of her thought.

**Not NOW, Alder!** Lightstone snarled, grabbing Nipper's scruff as he approached. **Look, everyone go to the right if possible! It's thinning out!**

Clear-Thought plunged to the right, and Wanderlust frantically followed, panting raggedly. Lightstone and Hardhead were quick to follow, dragging Whistler and Nipper along.

Whistler had amost managed to pull herself upright. Lightstone grabbing Nipper's scruff had given her the chance to get back onto Nipper's back safely.

Her eyes were screwed shut and pressed to Nipper's fur. Everywhere was dust and confusion and pounding hooves. Combined with the noise, it was too much for her.

Still exerting control over Nipper, she told the young wolf to trust and follow Lightstone and Hardhead.

Dusk held on as tight as she could, and buried her face in Coppertail's fur to keep the dust out of her face. When she heard Lightstone say to go to the right, she nudged Coppertail in that direction. Her wolf-friend quickly veered to the right and tried to keep up with the rest of the tribe.

The herd began to thin out; the dust began to drift away as more and more Wolfriders lunged to the right. Vibrations began to ease, and slowly, the last stragglers of the herd, old with matted fur, trotted past.

Hardhead gradually came to a halt, breathing heavily, and Lightstone climbed off to let his friend catch his breath. **Whistler? Are you and Nipper all right?** he asked shakily, touching the young huntress' cheeks.

Heartstorm slid off Clear-Thought and pulled Silent off Wanderlust to crush him in a hug. **My cub,** she lock-sent.

**[livid orange panic]/[reassurance,]** Silent sent, thoughts trembling as badly as he as he clung to his mother.

"Is everyone all right?" Lightstone called moments later. "Answer! Lifemate! Silent!"

**We're still here,** his Recognized replied. **So are Wanderlust and Clear-Thought.**

"Who else? Alder! Moth and Gust! Dusk!" the rockshaper yelled. "Sunsong and Nightglow, and Moonfall! Moss! All answer!"

*Here!* Moss sent back, a little breathlessly. A sudden misstep had sent her jouncing across Slaptail's spine, but she'd clung like a treewee kit and held on. Just. *I saw Sunsong when we started running, but I lost her in the stampede.*

Pale and breathing hard, eyes still shut tight, Whistler nodded.

**I-I'm f-f-fine...** she sent.

One eye opened slowly, followed by the other. Dizzily, she wondered, would the world never stop shaking?

Dusk slowly slid from Coppertail's back when the she-wolf came to a stop. She vaguely heard her name and tried to say that she was ok, but nothing came out. Sitting on the ground to try to ease the shaking, she finally sent. *I...ok....*

Coppertail laid on the ground in front of Dusk, and Dusk leaned forward into the wolf. Slowly, she began to catch her breath, but the shaking wasn't going away very quickly.
