"Mrph." Moss blinked blearily, disoriented by the sudden awakening and the unfamiliar sky. Being out here without trees or rocks to shelter them just felt wrong.
She scrubbed her hands over her face as Slaptail flicked his ears in irritation that she'd woken him up as well. Patting the wolf, she wobbled to her feet and scooped up a handful of water from the narrow stream before turning to catch Lightstone's scent. She dipped her head in acknowledgment when she met his eyes.
Whistler drifted to wakefulness slowly. Her head was pounding from the heat and sun. Rubbing her eyes, she crawled to the stream to wash her face and drink. The cool water soothed her aches and pain and she was able to open her eyes wider and look around. Her tribemates were rousing themselves with varying degrees of grace.
She scuttled over to Moss and crouched beside her, bowing her head to Lightstone. She gave her Elder her fullest attention.
Lightstone turned his light-eyed gaze on his chief, blinking slowly and shrugging nonchalantly. **We must decide what our next move is,** he lock-sent, mild and matter-of-fact, then momentarily closed his mind. "Come on, everyone, pay attention. There's a very serious question we have to answer now."
"You too, cubs," Heartstorm said in Moth and Gust's directions. "Pay attention."
Nightglow roused from the spot by the stream where she had been dozing. She trailed her fingers in the slow-moving water for a moment, lifting the fog in her brain before sitting up. A quick drink was taken, and she turned to face Lightstone.
I was having such a nice dream... she though with a wistful sigh.
Dusk awoke with a start. She'd been having a wonderful dream, but the call for council had made it vanish and she couldn't remember what it was about. Rubbing her eyes, she sat up. She stayed where she had laid down to rest, and watched the rest with weary and tired eyes.
