FALLOUTVERSE - The Washington DC Ruins - DAY POST

Aug 06, 2010 09:19

Darkness kept its hold on those people lost for quite a while. It knew no time, it knew no place, ad if it wasn't for a tiny tremor, it would have been content to keep them. But it did tremor, and so little things started to seep out: things, but also people, cast out across the multiverse ( Read more... )

DC Metro Tunnels bitch_prince August 6 2010, 07:23:42 UTC
Fandomites would find themselves awakening in the middle of an abandoned metro tunnel near Anacostia Crossing Station. Where centuries ago, this platform had been crawling with thousands upon thousands of harried workers trying to get home, it was now covered in debris: beaten up tin cans, empty bottles of Nuka Cola, the occasional bone fragment. Occasionally, loud shouting could be heard from further down into the tunnels.

Advancing would bring you to the old platform. Dividers were erected here and there, made of badly patched-together wood. Behind them, there were tables, set up in a crude imitation of a restaurant; there was also at least one fridge, and two Nuka-Cola machines that still contained some drinks, albeit long-since warmed up. Broken metro trains laid everywhere, long-since abandoned. Here and there, if you looked closely, there was food to be foraged from within the wreckage - dried meat, bottles of dinky-looking (lightly irradiated) water, boxes of noodles ( ... )

The last thing Alex remembered was falling off the roof. His last thought was that it was going to hurt a lot when he hit the ground. The thing was, he never hit the ground.

Instead, he woke up...somewhere else. His eyes took a moment to adjust and the now burnt out cigarette was still between two of his fingers. This was not the island. For a second, he started panicking that it was the vampire version of the island again.

"What the fuck," he muttered, sitting up and looking around. "What the fucking fuck."

One moment, he'd been training on the beach, minding his own business. And now? Now he was picking himself up off the floor in the middle of what looked like the inside of Midgar's plate, only in slightly better repair.

"Kickass."

Reno needed a fucking smoke.

Alex could probably help with the smokes. He'd fallen into a the hole with cigarettes and matches intact. Of course, he couldn't read Reno's mind so he wasn't immediately offering that.

Instead, he was trying to pick his way through the debris towards Reno since he was upright and looked familiar.

"Hey," he greeted, kicking a can of Nuka Cola as he walked, "did we just fucking die or something?"

The doors to the metro tunnel closed behind them, leaving immediate danger behind. Up ahead, though, was a sprawling wasteland, covered in the ruined wrecks of buildings that used to stand proudly at Washington, DC's outskirts.

There is water up ahead, and the edges of a large ship in the distance. But there's time, now, to poke around the area - just don't get surprised by any passing Mirelurks, which like to lurk around the waterside.

"Well, stang," Ben said, clutching his lead pipe. "This isn't good."

Skywalkers were never afraid to state the glaringly obvious.

"Where the fuck are we?" Alex asked, adding some eloquence to Ben's obviousness.

"No idea," Ben said, running a hand through his hair. "But there's sun and no one's bursting into flames, so nowhere with vampires, so I'll take that as a positive."

In time, exploration brings the ship closer by. There's a well-armored stairwell that leads all the way up to a ramp that's clearly meant to be half of a bridge - but the other half of said bridge hangs off the ship in the distance, unmoving. Several armed men are watching, suspiciously, from the other end. Underneath the ramp, there’s a caravan of men bearing water, if you’re interested in that kind of thing.

“STAY PUT!” a female voice bellows. “We are checking you out.”

For the time being, anyone from Fandom is stuck here.

Ender peered across the bridge with a grim look on his face. Well. At least they knew that what they needed was on that ship.

He went back down the stairs, and picked up two bottles of water. It seemed important.

"If there were squirrels here, there would be five different dirty interpretations of that request already," Ben said in an undertone.

"Funny, I could say the same about you," Emma muttered.

She sat down, leaning back against some crate or another. "Someone poke me, gently, if I need to seem attentive and/or like I give a shit."

Or if the people on the ship twig to the fact there's a telepath snooping about, to verify their intentions.

Just to prove how nerdy I am: I have actually run this route thrice simply for this BDE.

Anyway, comment here for:
1) NPCs;
2) if you want to do x but you're not sure what the world allows for it, and want suggestions;
3) have any questions;
4) tomfoolery.

OKAY THIS IS RANDOM but do we want to do character inventories so we know who has anything useful?

Quinn doesn't -- she's wearing jogging clothes and sneakers and her hair's pulled back with an elastic, and all that's in her pockets is $5, an ID and her keys. Totes a heavy hitter, here.
