Jaime couldn't honestly say why he ended up at the local winesink, or why he remained there. On the plus side of this entire little adventure, the place did not reek of piss or blood ( Read more... )

"Are the bears still wrestling? I didn't miss anything, did I?" Terry asked as he ran back into the bar. He was here a few minutes ago, but needed to run out to get a camera so he could have proof for Max that insane things like this happened.

Well.

Jaime looked from the boy, to the bears, back to the boy, bears... and plucked up his wine cup again for a long drink. "This is the second strangest bear fight I've ever seen."

"No way. What could possibly be stranger than tiny bears wrestling on a bar while that guy's serving drinks?" Terry asked, gesturing toward Tino.

"It involved a maid in a silk gown against a bear, armed only with a tourney sword." All of those things made perfect sense, Terry. "It may not sound as strange as this, but you should have seen how this maid looked in a dress."

Cinder had just meant to stop into the bar and get something cool to drink before she went back to work, but she wound up stopping dead in her tracks to stare at the tiny bears. She blinked a couple of times, and even smacked the side of her head like maybe that would fix her vision (she was getting no error messages, though...) but the bears were still there.

"Is everyone else seeing this?" she asked as she took a few more cautious steps toward the bar, tugging at her heavy leather work gloves to make sure that, between them and her sleeves, her left hand and arm remained completely covered.

"It's the best entertainment I've found here so far," Jaime said with an easy smile. It was easier now that he'd managed to drink some of his wine.

"Is it some kind of...like a hologram or something?" she asked, taking another step closer to the bears. She considered poking them (with her left hand, she wasn't stupid) but that raised too many awkward questions if the bears turned out to be real and failed to shred her hand.

"I can't said one way or the other on that," Jaime replied. "Seeing as how I haven't a clue what a hologram is."
