FIELD TRIP - Zakera Ward - the Wards - the Citadel, Saturday Morning

Oct 27, 2012 06:15

Fandom's portal spat them out in a sizable, if empty, room. They'd have several moments to compose themselves... and then the double doors at the far side of the room opened up, supplying a young woman in an Alliance uniform - a uniform that should be familiar to anyone who'd ever met Kaidan. At her side stood an old, grey, balding man in an ( Read more... )

At least the portals hadn't cut out on them - that was... something.

Kaidan was antsy. He was, for the most part, not showing it... but he was doing a regular headcount of all the kids, and wondering if he shouldn't have gone for another round on why eating dextro food was bad.

Liara felt... a little less off-balance, confronted with architecture she actually knew.

She fidgeted with her bag. In a few minutes, she'd be astounded by the presence of a human C-Sec officer - this quickly into humanity's discovery (it hadn't even been fifty years!). But right now, she was mostly... just soaking in being, not back home, but somewhere familiar.

Oh god it was space it was space it was spaaaaaace!

Suddenly Topher could understand how that badly-programmed spherical thing from Parents' Weekend felt. Space!

It kind of just looked like a regular room, which meant that Topher was even twitchier than usual as he tried to take in every little thing about this place and figure out all the technologically advanced things about it.

Listen to them, read your leaflet, or wander off.

Jono had actually managed to get some sleep last night, so he was looking more or less in a decent way, today. He'd started for a moment when the woman had mentioned being scanned for 'geth technology,' but relaxed a moment later when he realized that his collar was probably exempt from that.

... Of course he hadn't left home without it. The last school trip they'd been on, one of his students had nearly been eaten by a bloody leopard.

And assure the nice turian C-Sec officers on the other side that you are not, in fact, a geth infiltrator. Geth do not infiltrate.

April had a little staring contest with the turian on the other side as she passed through, but she was pleased to not be getting any kind of extra pat-down, which always seemed to happen when she flew anywhere. Something about her face being suspicious.

Still a bit iffy about whether he'd be just flat-out booking another portal back to the island over his collar, Jono found himself... actually fairly willing to give full demonstrations of it for the officers, to assure them that he wasn't some kind of walking AI murder machine, or something of the sort.

He was silently thanking Jubilee for all of the drills she'd run the New Warriors through, dismantling their tech and putting it back together, without tools, in the dark. It made the whole process that much easier.

Ghanima had to have the concept of 'geth' explained to her, but the amount of French-and-Fremen expletives that fell from her lips when it was suggested she would ally herself with thinking machines rather quickly convinced the C-Sec offices that she was not an infiltrator.

You'll be bustled into shuttles to the Presidium and your hotel soon enough, but while you're waiting, there's an opportunity to nip out and buy some fish, or scale models of space ships, or a hyper-expensive toothbrush that utilizes mass effect fields, or any old junk...

Or you could just stand around and stare at the aliens, or at the vast expanse of space outside, large skyscrapers jutting out, ships flying past...

Oh yeah. Topher was totally getting a toothbrush.

...Just as soon as he managed to find a place around here that would exchange some currency for him. It might be a while. In the meantime, with the hyperactive way he was darting around the Zakera Ward, it was only a matter of time until he wound up colliding with a krogan or something, and that would be very bad.

Jono was not going to bring home an alien fish. Jono was not going to bring home an alien fish.

Jono was going to just keep telling himself that. He already had Joni, and the frogs that lived in the tank in the Boards lobby to look after. A fish would be pushing it.

But he'd stand around and watch them for a while. That much, he was completely allowing himself to do. It beat letting himself get too overwhelmed by the view outside, and he wasn't the sort to do much staring at people who looked different than he was used to. Obviously.

Stiles spent a lot of time staring. Like, a lot of time staring. So much so that people might doubt his mental capacity.

He'd get over it and after that he'd buy a toothbrush. Because, yes, he forgot his.

If you'd like an NPC in either the door or the Zakera Wards OCD, let us know here! Next post'll be up in a couple of hours.

No, nobody's going to insist this is their favorite store on the Citadel.

Yet.
