Who: Flea and human!Scorponok
Where: Walmart
When: Sunday afternoon
What: Flea tries to help Scorponok find his way back to Bumblebee :3
When he was in his organic body, Scorponok did not like being away from Bumblebee. It was different when he was a robot; in this body, he couldn't dig, he couldn't protect himself and he couldn't sense as much. Sure, he could feel the rumbling vibrations of cars through the ground and he could hear the sounds of the environment, but that wouldn't help him find his way home. And he needed Bumblebee to look after him and keep him safe...
He wanted to go home. He wanted to find Bumblebee. But he didn't know how to, so he was stuck in a sea of not-Bumblebee cars until some one came along and helped him.
A fuzzy black bat flapped over the city, squeaking audibly as it flew. It touched down in the parking lot below, and in a puff of smoke turned out to be everyone's favorite cheerleader, Flea. He stood, looking around, and as he saw a silver-haired boy ahead of him he hurried to him, certain that it was the lost child he talked to before.
Scorponok nearly bolted at the sight of a human that wasn't Solomon, Taiitsu or Mariemeia approaching him. He didn't know what to do around other people (save for that woman at the police station, who's office he liked to dig under) and they scared him a fair bit. Instead of running, however, he simply froze, hoping this one would pass him by.
Flea noticed the frozen deer-in-headlights look in the boy's eyes and stopped, holding up his hands.
"It's ok! I'm not gonna hurt you!" he called, using his sweetest, gentlest voice.
Scorponok looked at the newcomer warily. It looked harmless, but then, most organics did...Until they pulled out scorching weapons and hurt him. He listened to the words, uncertain if he should believe them or not, not quite trusting the soft voice. Help? Of course, the human couldn't hear him, but he had trouble remembering that fact.
The boy was quieter than on the internet. Flea wondered a moment, looking him over, and dared a very small step forward, trying to stay as non-threatening as possible. He was vaguely reminded of confronting wild animals.
Scorponok remained stock-still. He had learned, over the years, when to approach, when to withdraw and when to be still. This seemed like one of those times; if he ran, he'd only become more lost. So he watched the approaching form through slitted red eyes, hands balled into fists in a gesture of defense.
Noting the defensive position he was taking Flea took that step back, still staying non-offensive.
"It's ok, I'm here to help." he repeated, hoping his attempts to communicate weren't useless, "I'm Flea. We talked a few minutes ago. Remember?"
Help? Scorponok thought back to the moments before he'd appeared in this wasteland of sparkless vehicles; when he'd hijacked a computer in the busy trade facility to try and find Bumblebee. Yes remember help home find... He nodded slightly; this person had offered to help.
Flea wished the poor boy could communicate more, but at that nod he smiled sweetly again.
"See? I can help you. Can I come closer?"
Another nod. Scorponok knew he had to allow some one to help, or he'd be horribly lost and alone forever. He was well aware of the fact that he wasn't capable of finding home on his own, not with the limitations of a human body.
"Thank you." Flea smiled still, coming closer carefully. He slipped his cape off, carefully draping it around the boy's shoulders.
"Here. Can't have you going around naked." he cooed, seeing that the cape was big enough to cover him.
"Now where did you post from earlier?" he asked, figuring that should be the next step.
Scorponok clutched the cape around him tightly, thankful for the covering. It made him feel the slightest bit less vulnerable. Inside. He pointed at the trade facility; he had somehow wandered in there and found a computer before he'd been kicked out and yelled at for being something called a nudist, whatever that was.
"Alright. Let's go there, then." Flea said, "We can tell Bee where you are and that you're with me."
He put a hand on his shoulder, trying to be as reassuring as possible as he began leading him to the facility again.
Walmart was a crowded place, especially on a Sunday. Scorponok did not like crowds; especially after how many people had been mad at him when he arrived in town. Flea probably could have felt him tensing up, the closer they got to the store. Protect scared...Crowds hurt.
Flea indeed felt the sudden tensing in his shoulder, and he tried to soothe the boy, rubbing his back slowly.
"Hey, it's ok. I'm here, it's ok."
Not safe. Scorponok frowned, annoyed at his inability to get the message across. The greeter who had chased him out of the store was still hovering in the entranceway and he glared at the man as he passed, baring his fangs. This place...It was weird. The sooner he went home, the better.
Flea didn't show that he was getting a little nervous noting the boy's glare. He really wasn't liking this he could tell. But the first thing that had to be done was to inform his caretaker that he was ok. He continued trying to calm him as they kept walking, strictly business.
"Are those the computers you used right there?" he asked, pointing, hoping to distract him from the anxiety at least briefly.
Scorponok, who had been skulking along behind Flea, glanced up at the question. They were in the electronics department, where computers and laptops of various shapes and sizes were on display. No. He shook his head. Those computers weren't internet accessible. He'd snuck into one of the offices and made use of one of those computers.
Flea frowned briefly.
"Can you take me to the one you did use, then?"
Scorponok nodded. He had been inside the store once; he remembered where things were. Follow... He took Flea's hand, tugging him towards the front of the store, where a couple offices were located off to the side of the main entrance.
Flea followed slowly, watching as they got closer to the offices. For one split second he realised they weren't supposed to go in there. But then he remembered, he was Lord Magus's humble servant! What was a little rule breaking once in a while.
He opened the door, checking that there was nobody inside, and ushered the boy in. Once he was inside, Flea looked out again, quickly kissing two gloved fingers and blowing the kiss out into the open, casting his charm spell over the store, just in case.
Scorponok scampered over to the computer, plopping down in the desk chair and clicking the "connect to internet" box. All of them had learned how to access earth computers back when they were hunting down Archibald Witwicky's glasses on ebay and he was no exception. Typing was really, really labor-intensive, though, since he was not very good with language. He had a big problem with spelling things correctly when he couldn't just upload words from his processor.
Flea closed the door to the office, stepping over to the computer and watching him struggle with typing. He watched as they managed to get to livejournal, reaching a journal name Flea had seen before: Time4action.
"Is that him?" he inquired, "Is that Mister Bee?"
Nod nod nod nod nod. Scorponok nodded vigorously, jabbing a finger at Bumblebee's username on the screen. Bee home safe help find Bee Bee Bee...
Flea's face brightened at his frantic pointing and nodding.
"Alright...let's see." he carefully leaned over the computer, logging into his username and reading over the last post in Bee's journal.
"So your name is Scorponok?" he asked with a smile as he started a message to the journal.
Yes yes yes. Designation: Scorponok. The little 'Con's hair bounced around his pale face as he nodded. He really hoped something would come of this; that Bumblebee would come along and find him.
"That's a nice name." Flea smiled again, finishing the message and sending it; Mister Bee? Hi, this is Flea, from the high school. I found your Scorponok in the Walmart parking lot. He's ok, just a little scared. I'll try to stay with him. Please hurry? ♥
"There." he assured, looking to Scorponok again, "Now if he sees that, he'll know where you are and can come take you home."
Yes. Another nod. Scorponok twirled the chair around; waiting would be the hard part. He fidgeted, trying to resist the urge to latch on to Flea's hair. It looked shiny...
Flea sat on the desk, drumming his fingers a little. The kid struck him as somebody who wouldn't like staying in one place too long. But what else could they do, until Bee replied or came to get them.
"Are you ok?" he asked after a moment, looking over Scorponok again.
Bored. Scorponok propelled the chair around in another circle, watching as the room swirled around him. Bored Bee home impatient...
Flea was getting a little annoyed at the one-sided conversation going on. But Scorponok looked bored. He thought a moment, trying to figure out what else they could do.
"Are you hungry?" he offered.
Scorponok planted his feet on the ground, effectively halting the chair's rotation. No. He hopped up, circling around the room, then crawled under the desk. Play.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Flea watched curiously, kneeling on the desk and peeking upside-down to see him, his braid drooping to the floor behind his head.
Play! Scorponok reached up, giving the glossy braid a tug. Playing was how he'd always passed his time with Blackout when they weren't on a particular assigment. His host had indulged him and so did Bumblebee. He didn't know any other way to alleviate boredom.
"Ow!" Flea yelped as his hair was pulled. It wasn't too hard but he still wasn't expecting it.
"Scorponok~" he called, carefully climbing down and crawling under the desk to join him.
Play play play! This was frustrating; Scorponok made an annoyed little growl in the back of his throat. Blackout would have known what he wanted. So would Bumblebee or Taiitsu or even Solomon. But this human didn't understand and it was frustrating!
Flea drew back a little at the growl, tilting his head.
"Scorpy..." he cooed, "What's wrong?"
PLAY! If he had a vocal processor, he would be shouting by now. Instead, he slammed a small hand against the side of the desk out of frustration, frowning, and slithered out from under the desk.
Flea was startled at the sudden change in the little boy.
"Hey now...don't be mad...I just want to know what you want..." he called uselessly, climbing out from under the desk.
Scorponok stamped a foot, hands curling into fists. Want play! He was screaming it mentally and it was driving him nuts; he knew what he wanted but didn't know how to get the pink-haired human to understand!
Flea chewed his lip. He opened a drawer of the desk quickly to see if there was paper that Scorponok could use to communicate, but there was nothing. And from how he struggled with typing he probably wouldn't be able to write that well either anyway. So he just looked helplessly back at the frustrated child, confusion and worry all over his face.
Scorponok stared back at him for a nanoklik, eyes wide and wild. Then he turned in a whirl of frustration and long silvery hair and scampered out of the office.
"H-hey!" Flea panicked a little, hurrying after Scorponok.
"Hey wait! Where are you going? Scorpy!" as he went out the door he found that the charm had worn off so everybody was back to their regular business. He caught a brief glimpse of silver hair through the crowds and tried to hurry after him, but got immediately bumped into by a plump, curly-haired girl running past.
"Hey guys, wait up--sorry Flea--wait for me!"
Once Flea was able to get past that girl, there was no sign of him. He was gone. He facepalmed. This was getting troublesome.
