being around little kids all day sounds like so much fun . . . i'm sure there are lots of moments that aren't, but your stories are greatly appreciated for those of us stuck in academia :)

I'm picking up some bits of Spanish, mostly for use with Spanish-speaking-only customers. I am really bad. Senora H would be ashamed. I can do numbers okay - "Su balancia es ciento-veinte-dos y trienta-quatro. Quanto ...?" they will usually say how much they want to pay. "Pago los veinte-dos y trienta-quatro" and hand me $22.25. Then I can say "gracias." I also say "tienes su ID?" for pickup or cancellations. And "sus iniciales en los dos, por favor" to get them to initial on the back of both reciepts. And "tienes poner un pago antes de trienta dias," make a payment before thirty days. ^__^ But I can also hand customers to Virginia or Carmen, or other customers can translate for more complicated requests. What I need to learn is "speak slowly." ^__^

I'm just not sure how "sientate" can be ... the kids trying to climb out of the carts. And you gotta try not to be pushy, sientate is more of an "I'm your mom so I can tell you to sit down and boy, you'd better listen" thing. In English I will say "be careful" so I could try "cuidado."
