Russian shop

Many thanks to esran, I found the shop today, it sells some typical Russian food, but produced in the Ukraine and Lithuania, so i bought:
- Russian bread (borodinsky, xeeny loves it)
- herring (too much vinegar in it)
- cottage cheese (very different from local cottage cheese)
- buckwheat (to make porridge, xeeny hates it)

He hates buckwheat? Weird. I love buckwheat with bacon in it (OK, I appreciate the bacon thing might not be a go-er). Or just as an accomapanying dish with meals. I'd agree with Xeeny its a little bit plain on its own.

If there is a Waitrose around, you might want to check the price of Bordinsky from there. They do it as one of their standard breads, might be cheaper than a specialist Russian shop.

Waitrose? In our area? Not likely. Gotta go to Henleaze for one of those.

Sainsbury's do a couple of types of rye bread (and may sell buckwheat) but don't think it's Borodinsky. I have a feeling that Fresh and Wild may sell Borodinsky, but that's top of Park St, so not exactly local (fantastic range of organic chocolate though!) and probably still not very cheap.
