Its a vicious cycle.  I get lazy and don't post for a while and a lot happens.  Then i avoid posting because a lot happened and I'm lazy or I dont have the time at work, etc.  Then MORE happens and I have even more of an impetus not to post.  So it goes.  But I'm giving it my best try here ( Read more... )

Does this worry anyone else?  The justice department is implementing new laws that allow DNA collecting from anyone detained by law enforcement officers.  Previously, this was only done with people who were convicted of a crime.  So now ANYONE picked up by the police can have DNA taken.  I could be wrong, I'm certainly not an expert on criminal law ( Read more... )

In my research I came across an incidient with a former assistant to DC Mayor Williams.  David Howard served as the Director, Office of the Public Advocate.  In 1999 he was asked how he would handle the budget in his position.  His response: niggardly.

It was interpreted as a racial slur and he was asked to resign.
