It had been a horrible night, but it was over. It had been over for a while. It was a strange feeling, but Key suddenly felt calm, calmer than he’d been in the last week at least. For all the time he’d been avoiding the remembrance of that night, it seemed so much easier to just think of it and accept it for what it was. Yes, it was much easier than holding on to it and trying to pretend nothing was wrong.

Key sat up on his bed, but he could still smell Jonghyun all over him. It wasn’t so bad. It was at least bearable, but he wanted to get cleaned up. It was time to start healing and start trying to really be okay rather than pretending all the time.

Within moments of Kibum’s decision to get back up on his feet, the power flashed back on. It was startling at first, but gave Key the reassurance he needed. He tore the sheets, blankets, and pillows off of his bed, wadded them up, and threw them in the washer, extra soap. Then, he took off his clothes and threw them in there as well. It was time for a well-deserved shower.

He let the hot water flow on his skin, sighing in delight. He was so soothed by the feeling that he may have fallen asleep. That is, if he hadn’t heard a strange sound from downstairs. It sounded like a click and then a squeaky-slide. Now, if he knew his house like he assumed, he would guess that it was the sliding glass door that he adored and despised all for the same reason. The reason it bothered him so much was because the only person he’d ever remembered picking that lock was Jonghyun.

“Now, if that wouldn’t be ironic,” Key said as he turned off the water and wrapped his fuzzy, pink bathrobe around himself. He fixed his hair in an ‘I’m-cute-after-showering’ kind of way before opening the door and making his way down the stairs.

When he got there, all was quiet and no one was in sight. To be perfectly honest, Key had always imagined being in a horror film and he’d spent a lot of time creating numerous scenarios and planning his glamorous escape in each. Readying himself for anything, Key went to the door and re-locked it. This may not have been the safest thing to do, but it seemed like the best way to lure someone out if they were lurking nearby. However, after he locked the door there was still nothing.

That’s when he heard, “Mister~” coming from up in his room. Each person on his phone had a signature ring tone, so it could only be one person. He raced back up the stairs and opened his door, walking in only far enough for...

“You know, no matter how often I see you wear any of these clothes, they always amaze me when I’m looking through your closet,” Taemin said matter-of-factly, like he hadn’t just given Key ten different heart attacks at once.

“How did you get in my room?” Key said when his heart was no longer threatening his life.

“Well, I used that door in the back, and then walked up the stairs and into your room. I heard you in the shower, so I figured I should wait in here since you were probably naked. I was right, wasn’t I?” He said looking adoringly at the pink bathrobe.

“Yeah, but... Whatever, what are you doing here?” Key was still processing all of this.

Taemin held a shirt up to himself as he looked in the mirror, making a slight pouty face, “Well, you didn’t answer your phone, the first or second time, so I decided I might as well make an appearance in person. It was a good choice.”

Key stared at the skinnier boy for a while. Taemin ignored him as he kept holding up Key’s shirt, trying to find one that fit. Sadly, because of Taemin’s extremely tiny body, even Key’s tight-fit shirts would be baggy on him. Giving up, he finally acknowledged Key’s unwavering gaze, “If you just stare at me all night long, Minho will get jealous.”

Key shook his head and gave a smile, “You’re really my best friend.”

“I know,” Taemin said as he got undressed.
