We just moved into our new apartment this month. We love it here. So far there has been only one issue, the downstairs neighbors. 2 gay bois who are extremely loud and RUDE as FUCK

I say definitely involve the manager. That's their job, if it pisses them off too bad! At least if it is documented (yes I am all about documentation LOL) it gives them basis for kicking them out if it doesn't get better. Oh and as for the fights call the cops on 'em that will hopefully put it to a stop real quick, especially if it gets physical. I know it's not what you want to hear, but if you have already done the civil approach to both of them and it's not working you really have no other choice.
I got to say...normal_cJanuary 5 2004, 05:33:31 UTC
I agree with fetyshgrl. You tried to be civil about it & that didn't work so now it's time to call in the cavalry. I really get sick of the whole (I'm gay & I have additude so I can get away with anything) front that some gay people put up.
You're not getting old, the stereo noise thing is a cultural shift.dark_angel69January 5 2004, 23:53:47 UTC
That doesn't make it ok however. If a person can hear someone in another apartment, then that person needs to quiet down. It doesn't matter if your in downtown New York or Boise Idaho, noise is noise and if its heard from another apartment, then you have the right to ask it to be quieted down, and it should be. Just because stereo's are getting louder doesn't make it OK to play them louder. I understand a person spends thousands on a great system and wants to boom it but I have a friend that has a 3k+ system and it still sounds GREAT at low volumes.
These people need to be informed of their annoyance and if it continues, punnished by being kicked out of the apartment. Being kicked out is much more clear to a person than the loss of $75.
She's exactly right.dark_angel69January 5 2004, 23:47:01 UTC
As much as I and you both hate involving managers, this is a case that managers need to hear about. Of course the gay boys will come back and say that you guys are loud too but let the management know that you guys are quiet on "night" hours and that the gay bois aren't, your are trying to be polite, and they aren't

Our new place is awesome. it's over 1000 sq ft (you can't get a 1 bdrm at that size for $500 less than what we're paying on the eastside- plus we have a garage). It is old, but it has been taken care of. The only negative so far, as I stated, has been the downstairs neighbors. Every other person we've met has been great. It's a different group of ppl. Much more interesting.
As for Eastside apartments, our last place was just as bad. I had to deal with noisy neighbors, cause we could hear them etc etc. Mol and I even had the cops called on us one night and you know how out of control we are. You've just had good luck apparently. Also, being on Cap hill, there is so much to do and it's pretty much right out the door. We have a great view... blah blah.
so, We're happy with the place. Not so happy with the noisy neighbors, which could happen no matter where you are.
We were stuck in a rut and being on the Eastside was part of that. This is a new fun experience for us.

1000 sq ft is a deal yes, but even then a 2 bedroom out here is about that same price and at my apartment complex it runs about $800 tops, still way below your rent. However, I LOVE ammenities. I have a pool, hot tub and a workout facility (Jean does too) and those are MORE than worth living over here for. Also, we don't have a garage however, we don't have to pay for convenient parking, which is good. I'm not really looking to have something to do just out the door. I see the benefit but what I tend to like to do is come home, relax, play some video games and work on my PC. :-P
I don't really blame ya for wanting to be around other forms of entertainment, those things are nice too.
Re: When my old neighbor upstairs was having daily sex REALLY LOUDfibJanuary 6 2004, 16:30:19 UTC
yea, that works pretty well... if the person has any common sense. I could tell that in this case that manuever would simple have an adative affect... the louder we got the louder they would get etc.
