Gene Kelly has always been one of my favorite performers. He was probably one of the greatest dancers who ever lived-- and when he was young he was smokin' hotttt :D
Even when he was not so young he was smokin' hot. In Singin' in the Rain he was Fourty. I swear I was so shocked when I read that. He did not look forty. The man was a walking muscle and he was absolutely gorgeous. He did more than just act, sing, and dance. Gene kelly was a director, a coreographer and a whole bunch of other things. He coreographed all the dances in "Singin' in the rain" and "American in Paris". He was a very impressive individual.
Although, I did some research after I saw the movie and it turns out that Gene Kelly wasn't so nice to Debbie Reynolds. How could anyone be mean to Debbie Reynolds? It's like kicking a dog or saying you hate Mickey Mouse.
So you like old movies? Any you'd like to recommend?
Probably nothing you haven't seen already. Though I would definitely recommend Orson Welles if you haven't seen his movies (Citizen Kane, etc.) I'm a big fan of pretty much anything by Gene Kelly, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart.
I once rented citizen Kane but I ended up not watching it because I was warned against it....by several people. I've been told it's quite possibly the most boring movie in the world.
Right now I'm watching Casablanca for the first time...although I'm not giving it my full attention because I'm trying to get some homework done. Humphrey Bogart isn't exactly my cup of tea.
I LOVE old movies. My mom grew up on them so she rasied me on them too. Some of my favorites are Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Meet Me in St. Louis, Oklahoma, State Fair and Good News. The last one is not as well known but it's wonderful. I love all of Gene Kelly's movies and Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers also. Good Lord, now you have got me started I might never shut up about old movies. :)
please don't shut up! I haven't seen most of those! Now I have a list to go rent. I've seen meet me in st. Louis, but that's about it. I've seen some Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies and some Gene Kelly movies. I love all I've seen so far. I'm practically obsessed with singin' in the rain. I love it so much. Could you tell me a little about those movies you mentioned?
My favorite is Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, my best friend and I would watch it constantly when we were kids and sing the songs at the top of our lungs. It stars Jane Powell & Howard Keel. It has some of the best songs and amazing dancing in it. Wonderful movie
