Freedom isn't free...

I agree. It does suck that innocent people lost their lives when we dropped those bombs, but innocent people died when they attacked Pearl Harbor. I don't regret that we bombed them either. Or that we went after the people who attacked us on 9/11. If we hadn't done those things countries would be bullying us and declaring war on us all the time.

Thanks Kimmy! I feel exactly the same way. If we hadn't bombed them, we'd all be speaking Japanese right now because they'd have dominated us. You're right, everyone would be walking all over us - we'd be the doormat of the world.

This sounds absolutely horrible of me, but I don't believe that Obama should have eradicated the "interrogation centers" at Guantanamo. You pay a high price for safety and those people would torture us without thinking twice about it. There's being evolved, human, and understanding - or even just plain diplomatic and decent - but if you take that perspective too far you're being naive and downright STUPID.

I think the thing for me is that Japan bombed a military base that primarily affected military personnel, while we obliterated two major cities full of civilians. I agree that we were right for retaliating, and I don't at all think that the lives lost at Pearl Harbor mean any less, but I do feel like there was a big difference between the two attacks.
