& i suppose a little different, as i have a piece that isn't yarn.
i'm in a surface design class, & my latest piece was actually an air & ocean inspired one.

the fabric is one yard of 8mm habotai silk.
dyed with acid dye, i did a flat layer for the overall lilac-y/grey color, then used the arashi shibori technique with cotton thread for the turquoise ( Read more... )

i spent a lot of time working on this piece.
i don't know how to spin so it's fascinating to see the work this communities shows a lot of.

Shibori is on my list of must-learn techniques too.

i know it's supposed to take time to do, & that putting a lot more thought into the process is supposedly required, but lately i have been enjoying just letting randomness & spontanaity take over my shibori work.

& IT'S SO MUCH FUN! i would absolutely reccommend learning it.
