Translation:
Silver Coffin
Escaped from the war to this place1
Becoming friends with the hill of falling stars
Mourning for your dead parents and friends silently,
Reservedly, a requiem, you sing.
The wavering shimmer, on the other side of the flames
Closed eyelids,
-Over there, what are you thinking about?
“I wonder, is there such a thing as God?”
Because you suddenly ask
I… my words are muddied.2
With hanged head, darkening profile
Before your grass-green colored blouse
-Becomes dyed in red.
Without telling the destination
Reached out a fragile hand.3
…You, melancholic, with a muddied sigh
Are still beautiful.4
The silver rocket-fairy is looking up to the sky
Quarrels and even hatred
Are eventually cut off, up, up and away.5
Our street, lit red, melted into the night.
The last quarter moon-swing is swayed.6
-Your smiling face changes into fuel,
Your tears, into stardust, it changes-7
To stitch together the space between the stars,
And tear apart the deep black clouds,
Together with the moon globe, let’s leave on a tinplate, take the cat along too.
The silver rocket-fairy reaches the night sky
Completely blindfolded, you’re laughing
“For how much longer?” you ask.
The other side of the circular window8 is filled9 with ether
Unaware of the pain, it turns into bubbles and disappears.
-Your smiling face changes into fuel,
Your tears, into stardust, it changes-
Changes,
Changes,10
Changes.11
Translation notes:
1 The grammar here is super-weird. I can't exactly say how "this place" relates to the rest of the sentence, but this one seems to be the most likely interpretation.
2 Adding the word "I" isn't really necessary, but because it ("boku") is originally separated with a coma in the end in the text, I feel like it should be emphasized.
3 It's not indicated who is reaching out the hand, it's open to interpretation, I guess.
4 Because it ends with "ne", the tone is more like "well aren't you still beautiful? ^^ "
5 The end is originally "high, high" (adverb), but I just feel like "up, up and away" is the poetic equivalent
6 Someone/something is swinging it, but it doesn't say who/what.
7 I really felt the need to emphasize that the word "change" ("kaete") is said in the end, kind of separately from the preceding sentence, because that's how it's sang, and that placement really has an impact on what Temari put in the end of the song.
8 The word sang is only "mado" ("window"). But in the kanji text, there's also the word "maru" (circle) in front of it, and the hiragana pronunciation "mado" in the end. So there you go, circular window (of a rocket).
9 "Filled", like a cup filled with water, specifically.
10 The kanji is different but pronounced the same. The meaning means more like "exchanged".
11 The kanji is different but pronounced the same. The meaning means more like "substituted".
Kanji:
変えて、
換えて、
代えて。
