“There you are,” Jason said as he walked over to Casey’s desk. “I’ve been looking for you everywhere.” He sat on the edge of the desk and looked at her.
“I’ve been here for the last hour,” she told him, typing information into the search engine on her computer. “I found the runner. Some kid from California.” She handed him the file.
“Good job,” he tossed it on her desk without looking at it. “You know, I might have to put a leash on you.”
She smirked. “Oh, you’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
“Actually, yes. What are you doing tomorrow?”
“Nothing. This guy I’m dating refuses to be seen in public with me.” She leaned back in her chair, looking at him.
“Really? Sounds like a jerk.”
“Yeah, he is. But he’s amazing in bed.”
He smiled. “Listen, I have reservations for two at Lattanzi and I was thinking…”
“Oh, really? Did it hurt?”
“You’re hilarious,” he mumbled. “I’m serious. Let’s go out.”
“Emily Post says you should give a lady at least 72 hours notice before you ask her out for a date.”
“Well, yeah, but I’m not asking a lady out. I’m asking you.” He slid off her desk and kissed her quickly on the cheek. “I’ll pick you up at seven.”
