With the season finale behind us I figure we'll have an explosion of prompts soon. So, new prompt post. Please post any new prompts in this post. But you can always find fic or fill more prompts in the original prompt post.

Noatak & Tarrlok: Now with decent parents anonymous June 27 2012, 17:46:56 UTC

A while back there was a prompt for the Gaang finding out Yakone was alive with a son, and Katara and Aang (and the rest of the Gaang) taking bb!Tarrlok in and raising him properly.

After the revelations in the finale, and confirmation of that horribly abusive background, I'd like to see a revamp of that prompt where the Gaang raises both Noatak and Tarrlok, and they end up much better off for it.

Noatak and Tarrlok, oblivious to all of this, were waterbending behind the house, even though their father had left for the day. They trained constantly under Yakone's eye, but everything with him was, well, training. Sometimes they just wanted to have a snowman fight. This way, too, Noatak could help Tarrlok improve his waterbending without the pressure of immediate retribution; it was the only real way he'd found to protect him from their father ( ... )

The door swung open and the Avatar walked out, trailed by their mother. He'd finally pulled his hood back; Noatak could see the big blue arrow tattooed on his head, just like their father had described.

“Aang,” Katara said, wheeling around, and stupidly putting her back to Noatak. He promptly threw ice daggers at her, gamely joined by Tarrlok, who didn't understand anything but knew enough to follow his brother's lead. The daggers sloshed to the ground behind her.

“Noatak!” gasped their mother. “What are you doing? And Tarrlok-I'm terribly sorry, I can't imagine what's gotten into them. They're usually so quiet and well-behaved . . . both of you, come here ( ... )

There was nothing much to do but wait for Yakone to get home. The grown-ups seemed happy to sit around the table, talking about healing and the different traditions between the Northern and Southern Tribes. Noatak and Tarrlok sat, their shoulders slumped, torn between boredom and anxiety. Noatak spent the time wracking his mind for some way to warn their father without giving him away ( ... )

I really really need to see how this develops. Love older Aang and Katara, poor conflicted Noatak and sweet little Tarrlok.

I'm loving this so far. And poor Yakone's wife, getting something like that dumped on her.

Their father had seemed darkly impressive when he told them about his history as Yakone, the firelight flickering on his harsh features. He'd been terrifying in the months that followed-especially to Tarrlok, but even Noatak cringed back from him, and struggled not to flinch when the approving weight of Yakone's hand fell on his shoulder. Now, dragged back by the Avatar, he just seemed old and pathetic.

Their mother was still crying.

“Torak,” she said, “why didn't you tell me? You've been a good man all these years-turned over a new leaf-I would have understood ( ... )
