Discussion in the prompt posts

Aug 13, 2012 02:56

So folks have been worried about the lack of fills in the meme.

Sometimes memes fizzle out, sometimes folks start to get busy at certain times, sometimes when there's no new canon or a show's on hiatus there's a lull. I know this can be frustrating but I want to remind everyone that prompt posts are only for prompts and fills. Not about how ( Read more... )

Ideas for getting more fills anonymous August 13 2012, 09:15:07 UTC
I think what's wrong is that people aren't seeing the prompts they want to write for ( ... )

There are two places where the prompts are being independently cataloged already. Neither has seemed to have changed the amount of fills coming in.

What I meant by tumblr was that we need independent bloggers to advertise the meme themselves. If you're writing a fill for here, put it up on your tumblr too. If you're an active member, don't forget to tell your followers. If you see a prompt you like, make a post about it. Those kinds of things.

Great idea, I just mentioned the meme on my tumblr and if I see any specific prompts I like (that I'm not too embarrassed to de-anon for) I'll post them as well.

I rather like this idea. The prompt posts are getting pretty unwieldy and hard to look through. Something that was easier to skim might appeal more to people looking for ideas.

A better way of tracking fills would be good too, though. I know there's two already, but they don't seem to get updated much, and it's especially easy to lose track of fills that consist of multiple posts added over a long period of time.

In other communities they sometimes reach out to members and get them to want to submit more by doing different themes per month. It'd be a nice addition.

That's a great idea. I feel like Tumblr is a better place for it, because I'm not really sure how LJ works. Personally I don't think I could handle the responsibility of such a blog, especially because I'm not that familiar with the Korra fandom.

Maybe if there was a way to document prompts relative to characters? I think I might have mentioned this before elsewhere but legit not sure so sorry if I'm being repetitive! I know for me, I'll be looking for prompts with specific characters and tones, but it's actually very hard to find things sometimes. Then when I do find things sometimes they're oldish, and nobody sees the fill.

Also, I actually wasn't aware of the "record your fill" list or this discussion until recently. Would it be possible to announce new sections of the meme in the prompt section so everyone knows about it?

I like this idea! The Delicious list is supposed to do this but it hasn't been updated in nearly 2 months. Is there somewhere like Delicious we could use that's more open-ended so anyone can edit it (or does Delicious have a feature like that)?

I'm pretty sure Google allows a spreadsheet to be used by multiple users, that could work.
