A Guide to ficdirectory

I thought I'd list this as a top post so that people in crimeland can see what I like. When doing gift-giving challenges, sometimes it's hard to get a handle on what someone wants in the few words they use to fill out the challenge info (I'm so guilty of being vague.) So, I thought this could help:

Favorite episode?
Riding the Lightning,The Fisher King, Part 2, North Mammon, Profiler Profiled, Revelations, Part 2, Children of the Dark, Seven Seconds, Penelope, Part 2, Damaged, Elephant's Memory, Minimal Loss, Memoriam, Part 2, Masterpiece, Demonology, Conflicted, Amplification, Risky Business and The Longest Night.

Favorite guest star?
Jackson Rathborne as Adam/Amanda was one of the best I've ever seen, and Jason Alexander as Professor Rothchild was so genuinely creepy he really sold it. Also, come to think of it, Johnny Lewis who played the unsub in Zoe's Reprise. Also Luke Perry and Jena Boyd in Minimal Loss and Gia Mantegna in 3rd Life.

Favorite female character?
JJ! I started watching because I knew AJ Cook a part of the show, and she is so talented! I also love Garcia and can even say I am a Prentiss fan now!

Least favorite female character?
Elle Greenaway. Just could never get into her character much.

Favorite place the BAU has visited?
I like anywhere that has a personal significance for one of the team. Las Vegas for Reid or North Mammon for JJ etc. I love the case where they traveled to Alaska and the one where they went to the Idaho wilderness, too. So pretty.

Favorite Garcia/Morgan moment?
I love when Garcia is "fully operational" or has "full range of motion" after being shot and then makes weird sound effects and Derek shushes her at the beginning of True Night.

Favorite Unsub?
Adam/Amanda.

Least favorite Unsub?
Floyd Feylinn. So gross!

Favorite male character?
Reid, though I also really like Derek...and Rossi...and Hotch.

Least favorite male character?
Gideon, I think. I love Mandy Patankin, but there's just something about his character I could never quite latch onto.

13. Favorite couple?
I know they aren't a couple in the traditional sense, but I adore Morgan and Garcia.

Favorite episode quote?
"Experience is a brutal teacher. But you learn. My God, do you learn." - CS Lewis (quoted by JJ in Risky Business.)

Jason Gideon or David Rossi?
Rossi for sure. My Joe Mantegna love knows no bounds.

Elle Greenaway or Emily Prentiss?
Emily, definitely. It took me a little while to come around to her, but she is great!

Least favorite episode?
Legacy and Paradise. The only two I can't watch again.

Most interesting case?
I think Conflicted has one of the most interesting cases. I really didn't put the pieces together until later.

Grossest/most disturbing case?
Definitely the case in Lucky with the cannibalistic guy... Ew.

Favorite Morgan episode?
Profiler, Profiled. Shemar was so brilliant in that! Wow!

An episode that made you cry?
Risky Business. The first and only, I think, to make me cry. That final scene when JJ talks to Hotch. And then that quote? I was done. Oh, man.

Favorite Prentiss episode?
Demonology. I love the episode itself, and I love seeing Emily's human side, at the very end when she finds her friend and reassures him.

Favorite personal interaction between characters?
Besides JJ and Hotch at the end of Risky Business, I really like Rossi and Reid at the hypnostist in Memoriam. I love JJ and Prentiss in Revelations, and Children of the Dark. And I love Derek and Hotch in Profiler, Profiled.

Favorite character quote?
"What happened to you, it isn't fair, but what you're doing to her isn't fair either, and if anyone should understand what that feels like, it's you. You have the power, you can do what you want to do. But for once, you can choose to use that power to do for Ellie what should have been done for you. You can choose letting her go. You can choose teaching her, yes, there are monsters and it's okay to be afraid of them, but it's not okay to let them win, and it's not okay to be one."
- JJ in The Longest Night.

Favorite Reid episode?
Gosh, this isn't a fair question! Revelations, Elephant's Memory, The Instincts, Memoriam. There are so many!

Favorite Hotch episode?
100. Thomas Gibson is so diverse and he finally got to show that here.

Favorite Rossi episode?
Epilogue. Joe Mangtegna's brilliance here was incredible! Loved seeing him be able to show the emotion and depth that he can show!

Favorite Garcia episode?
Penelope. Kirsten Vangsness was amazing with the nuances of her character. She did incredibly from the surgery scene to the scene afterwards on morphine to the whole show. She portrayed her character's injury so realistically. As well as the emotional side of her character, which she is always great at.

Favorite JJ episode?
You've probably guessed it because I said it already. Risky Business. Again, it's all about AJ's subtlety. The way she won't enter the room of the teenager who died, but lingers in the doorway instead. The hurt in her eyes thoughout. How she says so much without saying anything. How she knows that Garcia's interview victim is suicidal and demands to see what he gave Garcia. And how at the end, she confides in Hotch, and then turns it into an opportunity to comfort him, even though it's obvious she is still hurting so deeply.

What would you want to see in a Criminal Minds fic?
I stick very close to canon. So I prefer gen/team/friendship fic. I love to see all the in-between stuff that we don't get to see. How do the cases affect the team at home. Who has trouble sleeping, who has a phobia of some kind, who hangs out with one another just because they can and what do they do? How do they help each other? I love stories that feature their families as well, including Jack, Haley (or the absence of her after 100), Will, Henry, Morgan's sisters Sarah and Desiree, Reid's mom, Diana, etc.

What would you want to see in Criminal Minds graphics?
I like close-up, clear shots of the face. I love to see faces. I love sharpness and natural colors that pop.
