Be that as it may, you don't have her voice. Period. Melua's text are good and nice. But her primary achievement is her way of singing. You also don't have her looks.
I recently listened to an interview on a local radio station, during which the interviewee (the author of "Simplify your love") claimed that the song "9 million bicycles" had a deep, innate meaning which it drew from the fact that Melua states "I will love you till I die" as simple truth and whilst doing so, accepting it herself as a fact. (Nowadays I believe he stole this idea right off Wikipedia, where this is mentioned as a side note btw.)
Well, apart from the fact that this guys is more or less a jerk (see his book) and that the song was actually written by Mike Batt, I guess whatever you see in a song is entirely up to you. As for me, I often like nothing about a song except one special line of the lyrics, and as soon as I realize that, this song is suddenly all about that line...or, to be more specific, whatever I THINK that line is about...
As for times of decision and finding a nice girl: If you're somewhat near your early 30s (or late 20s, for what it's worth), this is to be expected ;)

There are so many songs with no story in it, but with just one line of sense....
