Ushas pressed her back against she wall of her and Pavel’s quarters, chest heaving as she panted heavily, focusing on bringing her heart beats and respiration to within normal Gallifreyan levels. Beside her Pavel worked at the computer located to the side of the door frantically, he too breathing much too quickly.

“I’ve never…vat are they?” he panted, his fingers moving quickly over various commands.

“They’re the ones that destroyed my race,” she said, watching him and fighting the urge to issue any commands or suggestions. It was too late, she knew that. Some how they’d got on board the Enterprise. There was literally nothing any of them could do. The huge number of casualties was proof of that. “My whole planet. They’re the daleks.” Slowly she moved towards him, resting her hand gently over his to stop his movements. “It’s too late, Pavel,” she whispered. “Just…stop.”

Shrugging her off he continued what he had been doing, inputting codes, sending out emergency signals, altering the number lock of the room they were currently in. “I never zought you vere ze type to just give in,” he said, sounding very close to angry, though really that was just because it was better than sounding terrified, which was how he really felt.

“I’m not normally,” she agreed. “But this is different there is no way out.” She reached out to grab his hand, more forcefully this time, and turned him to look at her, her free hand guiding him with his shoulder. “They destroyed my planet. Thousands of Time Lords couldn’t stop them. What can we do?”

“Ve can try!” he protested, though he was no longer struggling against her.

“I’m so sorry,” she whispered, leaning in to kiss him gently on the mouth as a tear rolled down her cheek. “We’re dead, Pavel. It’s just a matter of waiting until it happens.”

“Someone vill come,” he said, forcefully. “Starfleet vill send zeir best fighters, zeir best weaponry and zey vill save us!”

Sighing heavily she rested her forehead against his. He needed to understand that this was really happening. Perhaps Starfleet would come, but by the time they got to them it would be too late. “I know the captain always said he didn’t believe in no win scenarios,” she began, “but neither do the daleks. They wouldn’t stop until everything living thing is dead. It doesn’t matter what we do, where we hide. They will get in.”

“I’ve adjusted ze security codes on all habitation decks,” he told her.

“They’ll work out the new ones in less than ten seconds,” she replied blankly.

“I haff adjusted zem so zat zey change every two seconds,” he countered, with just a hint of a challenging smile.

She couldn’t help but laugh at that. He really was the most amazing person she had ever met in this universe or the one she was originally from. “You really are a genius, aren’t you?” she asked, trying to hide some of the surprise she felt at what he done without even the slightest guidance from her.

“It’s been said,” he confirmed, leaning in to kiss her more deeply now as his breathing began to approach normal again. “So now ve just vait, da? Ze remaining crew are also in zeir quarters, safely locked avay from zese…daleks.”

He was wrong. That was the thing. It would slow them down but that was likely to be all. Chances were the daleks already had a number of ways to kill them all planned.

“Pavel,” she said softly. “Just…just in case you’re wrong…” she trailed off, moving to press her lips against the curve of his neck, using one hand to brush his curls away from his face to allow herself greater access to his skin.

“You vant…here? Now?” he asked, the words coming out more slowly than he’d have liked owing to the fact it was becoming increasingly difficult to think.

Kissing her way to his mouth she pulled back just a little, her hands creeping below his uniform shirts. “If I’m going to die I’d really rather this be the last I do before it happens.” She paused, a slow smile crossing her lips. “I’d rather you be the last thing I do.”

Swallowing hard Pavel Chekov couldn’t deny the way his body was reacting to both her words and the feel of her lips, warm against his skin. “I haff heard less…legitimate arguments for such zings,” he conceded.

“I don’t recall ever having needed an argument before,” she pointed out, pushing his shirts up over his stomach, chest and finally his head, impatiently. Stepping back a little she let her gaze drift slowly over every inch of his body. Memorising the shape of every toned muscle that made up his torso, before finally her eyes reached his face. He truly was the most beautiful thing she’d ever seen and if this really was how they were going to die she couldn’t regret things all that much. It had always been a matter of when, rather than if in this job and the fact that they were together, that she at least knew it was coming and so had chance to take advantage of that fact some how made it seem more bearable

“I love you,” she told him quietly, stepping back into the space between them and wrapping her arms around his shoulders, one hand moving to the nape of his neck, her nails raking slowly against the flesh.

“I love you too,” he replied, his voice low and strained, as he struggled to remember even his native tongue. Her actions were enough to make him forget they were still in mortal danger. That there was a species, no one but Ushas herself had ever encountered, intent on wiping out every other species, currently on board the star ship.

Luckily now wasn’t the time for words though and the things he wanted to do to her had become pure instinct over the years. His hands found their way beneath her sciences uniform easily and he removed it quickly, pulling it over her head and dropping it to the floor as they both kicked off their boots. He too took a moment to look at her, standing before him in just her underwear. Sometimes he couldn’t quite believe she had picked him out of everyone at Starfleet Academy and later on the ship itself. He couldn’t even believe they’d found each other. Their perfect matches, their true other halves, because as she pointed out, in her more romantic moments- she had the whole of time and space, and as it turned out even two universes, to find someone and yet this was where she’d ended up. With him. There were so many things he wanted to say, so many things he wanted to tell her, just in case. But if the end really was coming he knew it would be quicker to show her exactly how much he loved her. How much he always had. Without another word he reached down between her legs grasping the thin fabric of her tights and pulled purposely, leaning in to kiss her passionately as the resultant rip seemed to echo through the silence of the room. Without so much as a pause he moved his slim fingers slowly, but with determination against the fabric of her knickers. He could feel her surprise at his actions. The way her tongue faltered, if only for a fraction of a second. He wasn’t surprised by this reaction. He had never been the most impulsive person sexually and particularly not the type to destroy anything that was Starfleet issue, but he figured he had good reason at the moment. Hopefully he would be forgiven if they did get out of this alive, because if they did it would largely be down to his quick thinking.

Unwilling to break the kiss or even comment on this sudden display of rebellion and impatience Ushas pushed her hand between their bodies, finding the fastening of his trousers and undoing them with skilful, eager fingers before slipping her hand below the waistband of his underwear to take him gently in her hand.

He moaned against her mouth, hips pushing closer to her, eager for as much friction and contact as possible. Using his free hand he pushed down his trousers, wanting nothing more than to be rid of their restrictive clothing. To feel nothing but skin on skin.

Finally Ushas broke the kiss, but stayed close enough that Pavel could still feel her eyelashes against his cheek. “Pavel?” she said breathlessly, pressing her body against his as fully as she could.

“Mmmm?” he questioned, focussing too hard on the things they were doing to each other to form words.

“There isn’t…” she paused, releasing his erection and pulling down his pants forcefully. “There isn’t time for this,” she said, already reaching behind herself and removing her bra as she spoke.

It took him entirely too long to realise what she was talking about. His mind far too foggy with desire. “I’m not sure…” he trailed off, closing his eyes for a moment in order to try and focus.

The next thing he knew he was being pushed against the nearest wall, as she pulled off the last of her clothes and cast them aside. “Forget the foreplay,” she said, moving back against him and twisting them so she was the one against the wall. “I just…I want you, Pavel. Now. Before…before…”

She didn’t have to finish the sentence. On the far side wall he could see various displays on his computer console blinking red, though he had disabled the alarm system. “It’s too late,” he finished for her. Picking her up easily, moving his hands to the curve of her ass to support her weight as she wrapped her legs around her waist. He could feel the familiar coolness against his increasingly hard erection, could feel her pushing herself against him desperately. She was right he realised. He had only delayed the inevitable, bought them enough time to do this. He wondered briefly how many of the other ship’s couples were dealing with their fate in similar ways. He wondered who Kirk was with and if McCoy had ever said anything to that blonde nurse of his.

“You’re the only girl I’ve ever wanted,” he whispered, as awkwardly he shifted her weight against the wall, positioning himself against her, his tip against her entrance for a only moment before he entered her smoothly and gently.

He knew what was happening then. His words proved that. She knew him well enough to know he wouldn’t let this happen without letting her know exactly how he felt, despite the fact he had never been one to keep such things hidden. Clinging to his body she fixed her eyes with his, her own body moving in perfect time with his, without even having to concentrate on the movement. “I never even realised I could have these feelings until I met you,” she replied, her body tensing against his as he thrust slowly, perfectly against her, every little movement reminding her of just how well he knew her body.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t…” he said, leaning in to kiss her briefly,

“Don’t you dare,” she hissed, moving her hips quicker, in an effort to stop him thinking quite so much. “No apologies. There was never anything anyone could do. Now would you just shut up and-and fuck me, before we die!”

His eyes went wide for just a moment. He’d never heard her speak like this before and for reasons he wasn’t sure of it turned him on, as did the direct order he had just been issued. Speeding up his thrusts he kissed her hungrily, sucking her lip into his mouth, as he moved one hand between them, cupping her breast and rubbing his thumb against her nipple. Suddenly he had a new purpose, a new plan- to make her orgasm one last time and the low mewing she made in the back of her throat with every stroke told him it was going to plan.

Out of the corner of her eye Ushas could see the display of the electronic lock flashing quickly changing numbers. Even through the dizzying sensations she knew exactly what that meant. They were here. They’d found them. Her heart beats pounded rapidly in her chest, as she clung to her Russian’s body even tighter, her nails digging into his shoulders as she kissed him more and more deeply, as if trying to take him into herself, to make him a part of her.

Spurred on by the further increase of passion he clung back, thrusting into her as hard and fast as he could manage, his breathing ragged against her mouth. Still breathing didn’t matter, not now, now while they were like this.

“Exterminate!” The familiar mechanical voice of the daleks was heard through the deceptively strong metallic door, but neither of them stopped. Somewhere, as they’d lost clothes and found this all consuming passion they had both accepted what was going to happen and now nothing was going to stop them from finishing what they’d started.

“Faster!” she gasped, tearing her lips from his, as her muscles spasmed around him. She was so close but time was rapidly running out.

He didn’t acknowledge her request with words, instead he captured her lips again, moving his hand from her breast between her legs, his fingers moving swiftly against her, as he summoned a reserve of energy and moved faster still, focusing only on her. On how perfect she felt around him. On how good she smelt and how the strange alien coolness of her skin felt like the most normal yet wonderful sensation in the whole universe to him. He could feel her starting to lose control, her kisses becoming less skilled and her breathing becoming more erratic by the second. He could also feel the muscles between her legs pulsing around his erection, threatening to bring him to climax before he did her, something he could not let happen.

Her head was spinning as lights flashed behind her eyes, her tongue moving sloppily against his, as her hips bucked against his desperately. The electricity was rapidly building in her whole body, all of it gathering between her legs causing her to moan into his mouth, the sound muffled, but sending him close to the edge. Finally she broke the kiss, her eyes half closed and darkened as she looked at him struggling to catch her breath, her mouth curved into the half smile he had seen more than a hundred times before when they’d been in bed together.

“Pavel,” she gasped, her movements slowing as it all became too much and she lost all control, her muscles pulsing with more intensity as she shuddered against his body, her cries of pleasure filling the room, bringing him to his own orgasm as he held her tightly against his body, moaning her name against her shoulder.

Holding on to each other, as they panted heavily and pushed hair out of the other’s face they kissed tenderly for just a second before turning to look at the doorway, awaiting their fate.

As if on cue the numerical display slowly came to a halt as the dalek managed to decode the combination of the lock.

“You are the last of the Gallifreyans. You will be exterminated!” it informed her as the door slid open to reveal the machine on the other side.

She rolled her eyes before turning to look back at Pavel. This was it and she really wasn’t scared, because she was in his arms and just like every other time it made everything seem easier to deal with.

“You can regenerate,” he whispered desperately.

Ushas smiled. “I can, but I won’t. I don’t…Pavel, I don’t want to! It‘s better this way. It‘s…right.”

“You know for a genius…”

“Yes, yes I know. I can sometimes act like a fool,” she replied. “But I love you and we’re going to die together and that’s what-”

The words died on her lips as the dalek grew bored of the couple’s conversation and shot directly at the intertwined pair, waiting and watching the crumpled heap for a few minutes, just to make sure the girl did as she had claimed and refused to regenerate. Satisfied that she was indeed dead for good the alien turned easily and moved further down the hall. He would not stop until every being on the ship was dead.
