Prompt Haz Cheezburger
There’s rather a lot of screaming going on suddenly, as Rex huddles in a corner protecting his new prize. Still it appears to be aimed at the male he shares his habitat with, rather than himself so he isn’t going to worry too much for now. His claws tear at the wrapping around the item in front of him and he’s just about to devour the whole thing when he hears a voice too close. He looks up from his task and eyes the thing now in front of him.
“I believe that is the young master’s,” the shiny thing says, though of course Rex doesn’t understand a word of it. Tone he can judge, because it’s something basic, something vital for survival. It’s how he knows to fly as far up into the roof as possible when either of the humans shout angrily at him and to stop hiding when they call his name calmly (though really the fact the female of the pair often gives him chocolate has a lot do to with that). He tilts his head curiously at the new arrival though and chirps.
“Repeat that is not yours.”
Rex chirps again before going back to tearing off the wrapping, and finally tearing into the food itself.
“I’m afraid I will have to inform the master…”
Rex looks up, cheese hanging out of his mouth and then tears off a small piece of the burger and nudges it over with his nose. A peace offering, or maybe just a way to keep the new arrival quiet.
“I do not eat,” he informs the lizard simple, his voice monotone.
Rex nudges the morsel closer still and looks at him expectantly.
“I do not have a mouth. I have an attachment for sampling various materials.”
Anyone watching could have been sure Rex frowned at this comment, but of course that would suggest he understood what K-9 was saying, which was just silly.
He waits a moment more, giving the strange thing beside him one last opportunity to take the food and then he pounces, gobbling it up quickly before he can change his mind.
“You should really remove the evidence,” the metallic dog informs the lizard, rolling forwards past Rex and over the tiny ripped pieces of burger wrapper.
Rex has no idea what K-9’s doing of course, only that he’s now very close to his nest and he isn’t sure he likes that. He pauses for a moment watching the interloper carefully before cautiously moving closer and joining him in the nest, curling up beside him, his eyes fixed on him, just in case.
From beneath him K-9 disposes of the wrapper but stays where he is, bright red eyes watching the lizard. He isn’t supposed to be here, in this time period. He should really be reporting back to the Doctor, but he doesn’t really have the heart.
