LGBT Pride Month = smacking around transgender kids?
Good news first: The White House announced it's LGBT Pride Month! Whoo!
Unfortunately, the transphobic idiots over at The Rob, Arnie & Dawn Show (a morning show apparently heard in Sacramento and Reno) seem to have missed that message. While discussing what to do about raising transgender children, they offered the following suggestions:
"If my son -- God forbid -- if my son put on a pair of high heels, I would probably hit him with one of my shoes. I would throw a shoe at him because y'know what? Boys don't wear high heels."
"I’m going to look at him and go, ‘You know what? You’re a little idiot! You little dumbass! Look, you are a boy! Boys don’t wear dresses."
"I look forward to when they go out into society and society beats them down. And they end up in therapy."
GLAAD is demanding that the show apologizes but gives the co-host Dawn credit for trying to stand up to her colleagues.
Here's an idea. Let's kick off LGBT Month with something a little more useful than rainbow wristbands and pink triangle badges; let's make good use of the contact info below. Call, write, e-mail, whatever.
