Rape is not the norm. There is no reason to assume that a fic chosen at random will contain rape or something else triggery.

When people say that you shouldn't read fic that has no warnings on it because it might contain rape/other triggers, what they're saying is that writing fic about rape is perfectly normal and a standard plot device/twist ( Read more... )

WTF is up with people NOT warning? And that whole idea of it "ruining" the story? BS.

It takes a few seconds to add a warning. Not that hard. Shouldn't be that hard to be considerate and respectful.

You know what's even more mindboggling? People who equate sex with rape.

Really.

I can't believe that I might need to write another post about how SEX IS NOT RAPE. I just. Urge to kill fully engaged!

WORD.

Related - the victims are just asking for tools. Not for you to babysit them. Those of us who are still living despite being sexually abused have found ways to cope and there is no need to belittle that.

We're already talking over gchat but yeah. It is really NOT that difficult to warn for stuff!

Most fic has no warnings because it doesn't have content that needs to be warned for. Telling people to not read stuff without warnings is, in essence, telling them to not read fanfic at all.

Brilliant move there!
