The smell of half-eaten pizza wafted through the room; their grease-stained boxes already littering the tiled floor.
No. Kyuhyun wasn't going to clean up now; not after having to go through three part-time jobs in a row, and not to mention a lengthy, brain-muddling -- somewhat torturous -- mathematics lecture.
The mess could wait until tomorrow.
Kyuhyun leaned back on the couch, sighing with pleasure, as the soft cushions welcomed him into a world of well-earned rest.
'Ahhh, this is the life...' he thought, eyes closed in contentment, his lips breaking out into a grin.
That smile grew a little wider when he felt the sofa sink, announcing the arrival of a warm figure, all too familiar to him now.
"Help yourself." Kyuhyun said, gesturing towards the left-over pizza. Apparently, his eyes need not open to do so.
"No, thanks. I've already eaten." Changmin replied quietly, his tone reserved; not boystrieous like he usually was.
Sensing the strangeness of it all, Kyuhyun finally set sight on the younger man.
"What's wrong?" There was no doubting the concern his voice held.
"Nothing's wrong."
Changmin looked away.
"Min --"
"-- Forget it."
Silence.
Kyuhyun reached out to touch Changmin's chin, gently turning it so that the latter unwillingly faced him.
The younger man's eyes widened with surprise at the touch. Then, on impulse, shook his head back and forth, trying to wriggle out of the elder man's hold.
Kyuhyun got the message -- he dropped his hand, dejected. "You've been acting really weird around me, Min." he stated
"No, I haven’t." Changmin objected, his eyes downcast, looking anywhere -- at anything -- but Kyuhyun.
"Tell me what's going on!"
"No."
"Why not? I'm your best friend! If something's bothering you, you should tell me."
"I can't, okay?!" Changmin whipped his head up, and glared. "You might hate me, afterwards!"
"I can never hate you --"
"-- You'll never speak to me again!"
"Of course, I will! I still spoke to you after you accidentally broke my 'Zeratul' action figure." Kyuhyun said, referring to his 'Starcraft' merchandise. "I mean, what could be worse than that?!" he asked.
Changmin sighed, contemplating.
"Well, you asked for it..." he mumbled, then took a deep breath.
"Facing your demons -- one of the best choices one can ever make." Kyuhyun teased, trying to lighten the mood, which had grown intense as they bickered.
Changmin snorted.
"Here goes."
Kyuhyun shot him an encouraging smile.
"Ilikeyou." the younger man spat out rather hastily.
Honestly, Kyuhyun wasn't surprised, as Yunho had already told him about Changmin's little, uh, crush. Fortunately, the feeling was mutual, so he was actually thrilled that he wasn't the one who had to confess to the other.
Kyuhyun decided to play dumb. He was enjoying this ve-ry much. "Dude, I can't understand you when you talk fast."
Changmin scratched his head awkwardly. "I like you." he said it clearer now.
"I'm sorry. What?" the elder man suppressed a smirk. Oh, he just wanted to hear it one more time!
"You want me to repeat it? Seriously?" A faint blush appeared on Changmin's cheeks.
"Yes. Three times, in fact."
Changmin's mouth gapped open in realisation. "Yah! You bastard! You heard me the first time!!"
"You say you like me, then you call me a 'bastard'... how am I to know what you really mean?" the smirk on Kyuhyun's face was visible now.
The younger man was speechless, to say the least. Kyuhyun finally reached out once more to caress his cheek. "Well, I like you too." he breathed, before giving Changmin a light peck on the lips, catching the latter off-guard.
"So, are you going to say it?" Kyuhyun asked, once he had pulled away.
"Say what?" the younger man was still stunned, but grinning widely, nonetheless.
"Say that you like me... thrice."
"Why thrice?" Changmin asked.
"You could say that... it... makes me feel superior!"
The younger man snorted yet again.
"Fine." he sighed, staring intently into Kyuhyun's eyes. "I like you. I like you. I like you."
